First off, allow me to apologize to you again. I've been working myself to the point of exhaustion the past few days in an attempt to get the update out, and I really wish I could have delivered it on time. I overshot with the release date that I've set, and that put me in the unfortunate position of having to delay one last time. So what's the reason for the delay again?
Day 40. Once I stitched all the events together and played through them, something felt really off. I originally tried to follow the formula from the initial release where I break down each girl's final day into 4 parts and then cycle through them (Adrianna -> Gemma -> Marissa -> repeat) but this ended up destroying the pacing. Some events are long, while others wrap up more quickly, and forcing them into a strict 4-4-4 formula just didn’t work.
So I’m breaking the mold. I’m letting each girl’s day 40 play out in parts that suit their story naturally. Longer events get more parts, shorter ones get less.
Also, I've picked up a lot of rendering tricks in the 8 or so weeks of this dev cycle, and that made the first day 40 event that I've made (Adrianna's) look not up to par to the other ones visually.
So after finishing Marissa's day 40, I started reworking the others, which unfortunately means I had to delay release again for a couple of days. I should have communicated that sooner and been more realistic with my planning and release date. That's on me.
Now enough with the doom and gloom; First off, Marissa's and Adrianna's day 40 events are 100% complete. Reworking Gemma's won't take too long, because I intend to shorten it. Also in the extra time I've taken to rework and refine day 40, I've managed to add an extra 8 animations to it (so far), and reduced the total amount of renders just a little bit.
You've shown me a lot of grace and understanding despite the delays so far, and I understand if you feel frustrated; I am too. But I genuinely believe the extra time I've taken has made the update so much stronger, and I really just want to deliver the best I can possibly create for you. I hope when you finally get to play it on Sunday (100% guaranteed release on May 18th/Sunday) that you'll all enjoy it and find it to be worth the wait.
