Novae Encyclopedia Part 1

(Click here to expand the post)

Part 2|

This week we have Part 1 of a mini Novae Encyclopedia entry, Starting with the World of Novae! We really wanted to consolidate all the world building we introduced in the first Arc of Novae into something a little more concise. Writing the entries has really helped us organize all our ideas too! We have two more parts coming and we hope these mini entries can paint a better picture of the Novae universe as we move into the second Arc! We would also love to know if you all have any questions that we can answers in later supplement entries! ✨💖

Novae Encyclopedia Part 1

Thank you Lauren! 💖💖 We appreciate the copy edits too! :D

Hello, I love all of this, and the paintings of death's realm are SO GORGEOUS 🤩 I love how lovely and non-malicious it is. So many people see death as an adversary to escape, but death is only a step of life. I noticed two typos, on the page about wheat harvest by the illustration of Vivi's kit: I think you meant "ill-advised", and "an extended". Just in case. ❤️

Lauren Sparks

Love a world so unique and thought out that it needs an encyclopedia 😈

Aiden

I love world building lore🥰

Erika

I didn't even think of that! 😱

Blusalee, I just love your brain!! 🥰 You are so intelligent and know so many facts. I would just love to sit and pick your brain. You always ask the most interesting questions!!! I hope you're doing well, friend.

I love this! The lore of Novae is so fascinating. So the scissors are made of Death’s scythe as well, like Sulvain’s pin, etc. (I also want to see the tapestries!) As far as questions… I always have so many. Just a few to start… Why does Death attach themselves to a soul, and how often does Death switch to a new one (and why)? What happens to that soul when that happens? Does that person’s soul then not get to go back to the Source? Or is it like a Quatum Leap situation where they go to a Waiting Room-like place while Death inhabits their souls? How long do souls wander the Field before they go back to the Source? Is it different for everyone? Also, why is it wheat that grows in the Field? Wheat was domesticated and genetically engineered by humans around 10,000 years ago (give or take). Before wheat as we know it today was developed, ancient varieties were more like einkorn, emmer, and spelt. Has the type of plant changed over the years (perhaps from grass, which has been around for millions of years), or is it more metaphorical since Death has a scythe which is often used to harvest wheat? I’m assuming it was simply an artistic choice (which I love), but my weird brain is now thinking about the science and couldn’t help but wonder. I am also interested in the River Lethe and how its waters work, and how its waters became Sulvain’s blood (and why he didn’t forget anything when it did). Are the other Greek rivers of myth from the Underworld going to make an appearance (Styx, Acheron, Cocytus, and Phlegethon)? Plus, I want to know more about Alim, as well as what happened to Raziol’s mom, and just what did his dad know about magoi (if anything)? I also want to learn more about the aliens/visitors from other worlds, why they create vampires, and more about how vampires “work.” Lol. Did Raziol simply learn to control himself after all these years, or did he have to do something specific to gain control? Did the space kitty help him? Are there others who survived being turned into vampires (else how would the Cisorium know that could happen)? And finally, I REALLY want to learn all about Sulvain’s past before the events of Novae started. And about his life with Udaya. (Was there anyone else as well over the years?) If he is over 600 years old in the 1600s, he has lived many lifetimes already. Or, is it super rare for him to find a connection/love with anyone, and those were the only two people he was ever with? (Okay, I'll stop here for now...)

Blusalee

Ohhhh how cool!!! I love lore compendiums so much!!! So neat seeing everything laid out together! 😆😆😆

GrantedDrop

Perhaps Sulvain’s cape is made of the threads…

Lee

Ooh how interesting! I love detailed lore. So excited to know more about the inner workings of this world and how magoi, vampires, and “aliens” are all connected.

Lee

Amazing, yess bring on the lore!! Is it weird I love it as much as I love the awesome spicy comics 🤓? I’d love to hear more about the river Lethe and the unlit sea (is there actually a city down there or was that just an illusion on its surface?). They’re both so visually striking

BT

I did not expect death’s realm to have its own ecology- well done! 👏👏👏

Peyton

As a DnD player, I love some good ole world building lore! Excited for the next two parts!

Sang Steppenwolf

oh my god, i am eating this UP. every page is so interesting and filled with food for thought!! i love knowing the field is something ever-growing and the whole wheat-stalk-thread of life explanation was really, really good and clear. thank you for this!

Fond Phantom

I love this so much! Thank you for putting this together for us! It is so helpful!!

Missiek43

Coooooooolllll. So do magoi wheat stalks grow within the boundaries of the source? And what is the sea that Sulvain entered when searching for Merlin's stalk? Also so curious as to how Sulvain exchanged his blood with water from the river Lethe. So many questions!! Thanks for the lore, KaiJu!!! ❤️❤️

Em

This is so beautiful, And informative!!! the best of both worlds!!! ✨
