2023-11-15 02:40:29 +0000 UTCSo glad you guys did this movie, it's such a ride. Henriksen's gun is a Thompson Contender, which is made for hunting and can easily swap barrels to change caliber. One of the henchmen in Hard Boiled uses the same gun. I highly recommend Hard Boiled and The Killer by John Woo, they are masterpieces of action. They also have really derpy English dubs depending on how you get a hold of them.

2023-11-12 03:46:38 +0000 UTCI just read that this movie got chopped to hell to get a rating, and there are several longer cuts. I watched the one that is a few minutes longer so I had to pause the commentary to resync quite often. Looking at a list of differences, there were actually a ton in those few minutes. Seems like they basically cut the amount of gunfire in half for most deaths, and removed a lot of exit wound blood and such. There is a massively longer 128 minute cut but it's rough with no music etc. And then a 116 minute test screening cut which has a lot of extra content including a bit of a romance scene early on, but they change the ending and just throw a grenade at the villain instead of doing the pants and unscrewing bit.

2023-11-11 16:10:56 +0000 UTCThe Theatrical is the one everyone needs. Its 1h37m. The only difference between the uncut and the version on Blue Ray is extended opening and ending scenes. Pause when you see Directed by John Woo on the screen (it is right when the water splashes). You can sync the newer version mostly up by pausing once you hear the boys talking about sax music. Pause 5m6s and play at 5:50. It syncs up at the bridge. Hopefully that helps folks out.

2023-11-11 14:16:26 +0000 UTCIt seems the 4K release (from Kino Lorber) contains the Unrated International Version. I read that the US Blu-Ray release is 'R-rated' but contains the uncut version. Looks like I'll be picking up the DVD to get the same version the boys watched. The uncut version is so kick ass though. There's way more bullets and blood.
