You guys, I can't begin to tell you just how much my little poseable Zootopia figurines saved my ass this week ahah. I had to redraw a bunch on this page, take a billion photos, and find poses, and research other artists' solutions to things I just couldn't figure out.
That being said, I'm pretty happy with the result so far - it's like... 90% of what I was picturing!
I'd still like to mess around with the final Owen and Judy; He's still not quite large enough compared to her (my size metric is that she's supposed to fit under his chin when in his lap. like a nesting-doll) But any larger, and Owen's lean over starts to look weirdsies. I'll see if I can tweak it a bit as I go. But also, I figure that so much of comics is fudging the details, and I'm having os much fun with the Nick-in-the-middle aspect of it that I don't want to mess with it too much further... Gosh, I do love drawing a little Nick squished into the backgrounds =D
Really happy with some of these faces, and I'm excited for the single panels on this one; I think it's shaping up to be a really fun page =D

2025-03-03 23:22:41 +0000 UTCThe weird thing about art (as I'm sure you know) is that it's not about BEING right so much as LOOKING right. I've read/watched countless things over the years about how movies for example make things deliberately "unrealistic" in certain ways because it's what people expect, and if they did it the "right" way people would complain...that it was unrealistic. All this to say, I think the fudging works perfectly fine here. It sells the action and the emotion, and I didn't notice it until you pointed it out, which means it's golden.

Honestly, the shirt was causing me strife - so I wanted to pull it off asap; I also just want to cruise through this early part of the story rapidly; so I can get into the sexy scenes. I just don't want this one chapter to take me 2-3 years. I was thinking I might have them pull more clothing in rapid speed too... I mean it's very inkeepign with the vibe; it's been a LONG week where they both haven't been able to see each other ;D
