Page 4 Inks and Flats!

Here we go! Progresssssss. Yesterday I put on a bunch of star trek (strange new worlds is rad and deserves your watch), followed by Dune, and just cranked the last of the inks and then flats.

Feeling happy to get it done, but also... frustrated a bit too? Looking back a bit at the Thumbs and even Pencils, I feel like I might have lost a little bit of the zaz in my attempt. Or the direction shifted as I went.

Originally the sly look in Panel 1 was a little more playful - but as I started to Ink, I thought it would be better to make her appear more deadpan and serious as it sets a better look for the statement she makes to Nick, she 75% means what she says and knows what it does to him, so her face has to match the action. PLUS it makes the next panel's jovial banter feel better in contrast. But maybe it lost some... playful edge?

I also originally intended for Panel 3 to be more of a direct side-profile of the two sharing a snoot-kiss and it was super intimate and lovely, but as I was penciling and then inking, I kept pushing myself to make it more interesting and get a 3/4 view of Judy nestled into Nicks negative snoot-space. I didn't want it to feel lazy? Or, I think I just chased the idea to the point where it felt bad to go back and start fresh... I was hitting a wall of 'time to call it good and move on' too.

Panel 2 is WAY better though, and I DO think Panel 1 will look good when I add some Blush to Judy, to show the 'I'm horny as I say this, and this is a tease' part of it. Panel 3 also works better with the balloon that has her saying 'Ha!' whereas before she was very quiet-seeming.

ANYWAYS, that's all shop talk. It'll probably look rad when I get the last of it done this week.

Things at home and work have been crazy and busy and constant. But the weather is turning, and things feel hopeful. Fingers crossed you've all been doing awesome out there!
