here's another one of the projects i worked on while i was away, a PvE mode for a multiplayer spin-off of "Destination The Planet", a game i made and released a demo for last summer! DTP: Arena has been in development since last year, it's only this year that i decided to start work on a silly little PvE mode for it!
it's heavily inspired by Salmon Run from Splatoon 3 so there are 2 types of enemies: zombies and Bosses. zombies are your fodder that spawn much more frequently than bosses, being quick to defeat but having multiple different types with their own behaviors to keep things interesting! Bosses spawn every 10-15 seconds or so, acting as larger, stronger zombies that have even more distinct behaviors than the normal zombies.
there are 3 rounds, and 3 "waves" per round, where every wave the zombies randomly select a direction to come from. every round, you're assigned a new weapon! also, since the game itself is multiplayer, this PvE mode is designed and built to be played in multiplayer as well as singleplayer! in multiplayer, if you're defeated, you turn into a zombie yourself and lose control of your character. in this state, your teammates have to defeat your zombie to bring yourself back to life where you'll be able to play again. if everyone turns into a zombie, it's game over!
both types of enemies drop little nuts called "Resources", which you can spend on building, repairing, and upgrading defensive walls to keep your (temporarily named) precious Objective safe! eventually there was gonna be a lot more interesting stuff you can spend your extra resources on, but that's coming later should i pick this up again.
also, the round was supposed to end with it turning day at the end of the video once all the enemies were cleared but i think a zombie fell out of the map and i had no failsafe for that yet LOL
