results of this week's experiments!! looking good!!!!

most of this week has been sketching out ideas since thats something i very very easily get stuck on, but there has been animation progress made and the good news is that this style is totally feasible for an April release!!!! additionally, the song i've decided on is "They Might Be Giants - Nothing's Gonna Change My Clothes" which is sure a mouthful but it's easily one of my favorite TMBG songs which also happens to be one of the first I heard from them!

this style isn't super demanding of me while being something i personally find pretty interesting / satisfying art-wise so it's a total win-win to me Finally getting something out!! i also made a handful of small improvements since the last update, namely i changed the background to be more realistic, shown here! while i can't have the style be As super-accurate as i'd like, not really being able to recreate certain quirks of paper physicality like warping without having to seriously plan for it at the compromise of flexibility, i think what's been achieved so far is more than enough to the Untrained Eye, and hopefully some trained eyes!

a lesson i've sure learned from "Spring Cleaning" is that I gotta be more careful about compression, because between tvpaint's + sony vegas' + youtube's compression, the backgrounds of spring cleaning turned out compressed To Hell because of the paper texture on them! even this lower-resolution clip ( the final will be 1080p ) has better compression as far as i can tell because the raw video is less compressed LOL

i think the last few changes you'd see between this clip and what would be in the final video is adding a "boiling" effect to the still frames by shifting/rotating each piece around slightly in a 3-frame cycle to replicate my usual thing of "boiling" still frames of 2d animation by drawing over the same frame 2 extra times in a 3-frame cycle. plus this scene doesn't have a real background yet which is something i'd do near the end of the project!
