New Experiments.....

this past week has been a good bit unpleasant due to going through a bad relapse, which ended up in me realizing i really just wasn't enjoying working the "party on the moon" animation much at all for various personal reasons i wont get into, a notable one having me being not very artistically satisfied by it, but it's not all bad because it's lead into what you see above!

yesterday, i put a good bit of time into trying to make a much more realistic-looking version of that paper cutout style i took a crack at in "spring cleaning", both of which done in blender! i had some help from my partner since she's a lot more knowledgeable on blender than i am, where i specifically wanted to recreate the lighting environment of the exact setup i used for the Real Life paper cutout style i used for 1 shot in "ladyflash"! there's a few liberties with the lighting of course, which i took to make the lighting in the render itself more what i wanted, foregoing Complete accuracy to the original setup, but i'm pretty freakin happy with the final result!!

the point of this is i'm considering jumping ship again to a ~30 second animation in this style that i feel would be more substantial, both as its own thing and as something i'd actually enjoy making a lot more.. i've got my eyes on early "They Might Be Giants" since they're something i was into far before Lemon Demon and by extension i've wanted to make animations of their songs for far longer too!

this week i'll be experimenting with animating in this style to see how actually feasible it is, if all goes well i'll plan some stuff out and start work on the new animation! i believe this animation could still maybe be done within April since it's a lot less strenuous so far, including how i don't have to worry about cleanup/color/backgrounds as much! i'm not sure how much of a recurring style this would be, it definitely wouldn't replace my usual 2d style, but it's another tool in the arsenal going onwards!
