Adventures in Rigify

Testing out Rigify once more, this time I think I managed to get the hang of it. I'll need to go back and re-do this one now that I understand a bit how it works, (so I can get the face bones lined up, as I left them whereever as a test, because face bones going to be more work than the entire rest of the model)

It worked out a helluva lot better than I thought it would, the only problem was some somewhat wonky rigging around the knees and it didn't quite catch her pigtails, eyebrows, and hairties, but it can't be perfect.

This should really allow me a lot more ability to create and rig models from scratch. It'll be even more amazing if I can manage to get it to work with non-t-posed models (such as models taken from ninjaripper)

That'll let me get warframe models, hyper universe models, and etc done a lot faster than I could ever dream of

Yeah, I've done armatures from scratch before so I can handle things like hair. I'll see how the face rigging works, if it looks better than my own then I'll probably use it instead. I don't really like using shapekeys for expressions since those feel really limiting, I'd much rather use an armature if it's possible. Would be far from the first time I've rigged a face before, just if there's a simpler way to do it, I'm probably going to use that way instead Haha

Nice, I'm sure it'll make your job easier! You don't have to use the facial bones included, if you delete them from "sketch rig" (they're on layer 1), it won't cause any problems when generating the rig. Most SFM models come with shape keys, so it'll be probably easier to just drive existing expressions than rig the whole face with bones. For hair you'll unfortunately need to create bones yourself, there's no automatic solution for that. If you have any questions, hit me up. Your work gets easier = I get more awesome lewds. ;>
