With respect to my previous comment about saving at decision points: one problem with that is that often you don't know you have hit a decision point until you are in a dialog sequence, and I don't think you can save at that point. It would be nice if there was a way for the game to temporarily save state at the start of a dialog sequence, and allow the user to save that state during the dialog. This way, when the player determines there may be a decision point, they could do a quick save, and have a save before the dialog started so that they can then explore all the branches (holy many worlds quantum theory ParticleMan!)

That's actually the first thing I did in that game once I discovered there was multiple choices that might have influences. But because the gallery allowed to relive the events - and test other choices - and because after choosing the wolf path, there wasn't any clear consequence for hours, I stopped doing it, thinking that whatever I was missing, I could see it in the gallery anyway. But once I got to the choice during Ulfa's scene, it's where I realized that both paths can coexist, meaning that I've actually wasted points for nothing - in the current build at least - as my Ulfa is full Wolf, while only 1 point is enough so far. Alas, my last save of that kind was way too early to be worth it. That's what I've suggested to give an example of the choice we might expect after picking a path the first time - not necessarily a sexual example, but just something to show those 2 choices with points. Both to show what that decision can lead to, but also to confirm that both paths can coexist. A bit like a tutorial of that particular game mechanic.

Save sent. I verified that I have the same issue in the Linux stand-alone version.

Skunkupine

You could just save a game before you make the decision, and then have 2 saves moving forward: one on the doggy path, one on the wolf path.

Much appreciated, thank you! Another alternative, if I may, could be to have a NPC that would reset those points for a cost. Maybe the cost could be money, materials, or even time, like Ulfa not being happy about it for, I don't know, a week, so the player has to grind again her favor to win her back, for example. All that to not abuse of the mechanic, of course. Another suggestion could also be that after the very first choice between doggy and wolf, once Ulfa is furry, would be to give a simple non-important example of choice to the player (asking to Ulfa to either behave like a wolf or a dog), to better understand what is at stake, as it'd show clearly, through the UI, that both path can coexist.

We will think about the possibility of using ‘cheats’ like the ones you just mentioned In the next updates, you will be able to get new character points for both wolf and dog types

Thomas Ward

Thanks for the font idea!

Thomas Ward

It should just be a folder named save inside the project

Thomas Ward

Hello! Maybe it has been asked somewhere else, but is there a way to reset Ulfa's stat between wolf and doggy? I understand it's supposed to be an important choice, but restarting the game entirely only to change that for potentially some dialogues difference might be quite of work :x 'cause not knowing where it'd lead, I took wolf only. I didn't expect both options could work at the same time, meaning that, in the current build of the game, taking too much of one side, which is most likely what people might do, is punishing, as a point is wasted for nothing. I understand it's a work in progress, but maybe for that reason, a temporary reset button could be add until the game is completed? :o It might also imply that, currently as it is, the best "build" for Ulfa is to play both side, with is quite counter intuitive, as both sides seem quite opposite, if that makes sense?

Where is the save file under Linux?

Skunkupine

How about I find the root of the problem on the Linux executable? It's a font library problem - it looks like the version of fontconfig your binary is using isn't parsing the new font config files. On my system, I have fontconfig v2.15 installed. It can be corrected by adding a directory to your game, "fonts", and creating a fonts.conf therein: /usr/share/fonts fonts Then launching the game with FONTCONFIG_PATH=fonts ./nw That allows the game to run. You can see more info here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/922710/discussions/0/1628538707063677167/ Given that: I was at the end of the farm sequence. All the characters are in the house. I'd talked to Hanna, and she has commented upon how the sister is a work nut. I've talked to the sister, and she says she is happy about Hanna. I could load a save to verify behavior. OR: if the save file is nothing but the data from the key in the localStorage, I bet I can set up a save that can be loaded.

Skunkupine

At what point did you stop? We can send you a suitable save file

Thomas Ward

I could try, but it's a catch-22: to save to a file I have to play under Electron, but I cannot import my saves to Electron, so I would have to start from scratch. I don't have the time right now to play start to end.

Skunkupine

We're familiar with https://semver.org/ but I'll be honest, quite reckless about naming versions. The main thing is that this number shows players the significance of the changes =) What do you think about trying to run windows build with wine or Proton?

Thomas Ward

WHAT?!?!?! Somebody who ACTUALLY UNDERSTANDS HOW TO USE VERSION NUMBERS?!?!?! (sniff) It's been so long since I encountered anybody who understands version numbering, so very long.... I run Linux, and currently your Linux build segfaults if I run the Electron engine, so I just use Firefox to run the web code - so it COULD be a difference between Electron and Firefox (e.g. NotABug). I can give you the localStorage data for the save, if that would help - it should be the same as the file contents, modulo perhaps base64 or similar coding. (The segfaulting might be that later Linux distros that use AppArmor really tighten up the rules on what apps can create local namespaces.) You may want to try to have your code create real honest to Pete files rather than using localstorage - I've heard too many cases of people losing localstorage due to the system deciding to "clear caches". It also makes it easier to move saves from machine to machine.

Skunkupine

Can you please provide your save folder as zip archive at ThomasWardThere@protonmail.com ?

Thomas Ward

Picked up a version, minor version since we are fixed a blocking bug Next episode will be already 8.0 Not working teleport from farm? We're going to check it out now

Thomas Ward

Also, I am stuck at the end of the farm story - I cannot leave ("I need to check on Hanna"), but if I go into the house and talk to Hanna and big sis, I still cannot leave.

Skunkupine

Did you skip the release for 7.8.0? What I see jumps from 7.7.0 to 7.8.0 hotfix.
