Max Spoilers - Batman: The Court of Owls

Ben Hanson and Kyle Hilliard just read DC's Batman: The Court of Owls for the first time and wanted to have a spoiler-filled discussion about Scott Snyder's beloved story from 2012 that rumors indicate might be influencing the next Batman game from Warner Bros. Montreal. We know it's an unconventional choice for a spoilercast, but let us know what you think!

If y'all wanna keep the bat's train going, Batman: Death of the family (not to be confused with "in the family") and Endgame are two awesome arcs involving Joker and one of his best storylines recently. Conversely, Zero Year (that takes place about 5y before the CoO story) is a great take of the begginings of New 52's batman and leads to a great Riddler-centric story on its third Arc. Gotham is the main character of this story and each arc is named after the changes it undergoes through: secret city, dark city, savage city. And a bit of both can be found in Rebirth's War of Jokes and Riddle, with Gotham and Batfamily getting caught in the feud of the two in an AWESOME tale that add some pathos and gravitas to the lesser BatVillains like KiteMan.

The animated movie is really bad they cut out a lot of the best stuff

Snyder's whole Batman run in the new 52 is worth reading but I'm not sure it reaches the highs of the court of owls storyline (it does come close though). It's soooo good, thanks for discussing it!

I loved this! But, they made an animated movie of this. But you are forgiven because it's very forgettable 🤣 not nearly as good. "Batman vs Robin"

wow y’all rule for doing this! I have the single issues but just ordered the essential edition so I can reread it in style 😎 and then listen!

This is great! Just read Court of Owls for the first time this weekend, following Kyle’s lead. Check your local library!

“It was revealed” is Ben’s new “in theory.”

I like it! Points me to some non-video game media that I haven’t read yet, and then I have a podcast all set with discussions about it after I do. Bonus that comics only take a bit to digest, not 80 hours like some games.

Isaac Cynova

Nice! Glad to see you guys going into different genres of media.

Lewis K

Yup! We cover it as well!

Ben Hanson

Don't forget vol 2 City of Owls!
