Figure Drawing: Week 16

We’re back! and man am i excited to draw a woman

This model was so great!! She’d be serious when modelling, but during the breaks she was talkative and bouncy and sweet. She actually tried to talk to me at one point and I completely spaghetti’d :-[ BUT MORE ON THAT LATER.

Here are the 1s!

The 2s!

I have a huge habit with the 5s where the first sketch is so totally incomplete because I underestimate the time allotted. That’s why the first sketch looks so wispy. I tried to measure things, and that ate up enough time alone.  So I tried to be more eyeballey with the other poses.

I’m learning that doing the more time-consuming measuring is helpful with the 10/20-minute poses, but 5-minute poses are very short.

The 10s!

The 20! She kept making such serious sad expressions in her poses ;__;

But yeah here is where the long break started and she walked around chatting with people. During the break I tend to turn my paper to a blank page and play Puyo Puyo Tetris on the 3DS :-[ USE THE BREAK TO PRACTICE ANOTHER SKILL, RIGHT???

So I had my headphones on and she started walking towards me, so I take them off and smile politely at her, and she’s all “Wow, you’re such a hard worker! :D"

“Huh?"

“Do you see? You’ve done a lot of work here!"

“.. pardon? ;__;"

“Your page is blank :-["

She was just teasing me and I understood what she meant then, and I laughed about it while feeling super dumb and embarrassed. She was trying to be friendly of course, we chatted a bit afterwards so I didn’t really curl up into a cocoon :-[ She was really nice!!

ANYWAY

Here are the 2s AND 5s! She did so many non-standing poses in the 2s that I was able to fit the 5s into the same page, which is pretty cool. Her hair is so great, it was like a cloud

First of the 20!

There’s actually a funny story about this second 20-minute pose.

So very often during the 3-hour session, some people like to leave during the final 20-minute pose. That just seems to be the time the most people taper off. Maybe they just want to get one 20-minute pose done? Maybe they have to catch a train? Maybe they’re used to the Tuesday sessions that make it so you draw a 40 minute pose rather than two separate poses?

But anyway, she got very mock-offended when two people began to leave. As she was figuring out a pose, she called out to them play-acting and people were laughing about it, and then a THIRD person began to leave. And she was all “Well, I never! I’m just going to make THIS dignified pose at you.. to swallow my pride!"

So yeah, she was pretty great.
