GLEE S05E20 WATCH PARTY

On the point of Blaine calling up Kurt to sing, I don't have a problem with him doing it. He waited until the encore, it wasn't something Kurt expected, so it wasn't like he was doing it to please Kurt. I think Blaine did it because he wanted to share the moment. Yes, having separate careers is important, but they are 18 and 19 years old, Blaine was truthful when he said to everyone, if you want to get to know me, then you need to get know what I'm passionate about and one of those things is my fiancé Kurt. I also think it was important because while having a benefactor like June is great and helpful to start his career, she was very dismissive of their relationship and the importance that it had to Blaine. I think June wanted to make Blaine over into a straight single boy and that was never going to be the case. She needed to respect the relationship. I honestly think if she had respected the relationship and not been dismissive about him being in young love, and told Blaine, that this was a chance to focus on his career and that Kurt supported that because he knows that there will be ups and downs in both of their careers then Blaine may not have pushed so hard to include Kurt. Also, as to Mercedes not wanting to go further then kissing with Sam meaning something more than just that she wanted to save that part of her, I think is off base. I think she saw how things went for Quinn in high school and Quinn letting a moment of kissing move on to something a little more and then moving fully into having sex and getting pregnant. Remember Quinn ended up staying at Mercedes's house after all the shit went down with Finn and Quinn leaving Puck's house. Mercedes has also been very career focused and wanting to achieve her goals, so I think she would be very consciences of how sex could change things for her emotionally and professionally if she ended up pregnant. I think Mercedes was right when she said that she trusted Sam would wait for her while she was on the tour, but that he might end up resenting her for potentially "missing" out on opportunities because he was waiting for her to be ready, when she didn't see that happening for at least a decade. Again, they are 18 and 19, she said she didn't see herself wanting to be married until she was 30. At that age, that is a long time to wait especially when they are going in different directions and locations career wise. Lastly, I think Kurt didn't say anything to Rachel about not doing the show because he tried to say something when she quit NYADA and Rachel completely dismissed him. He tried again when he told her not to risk her job by going to the first audition and again she ignored him. He's learned that she is going to do what she wants regardless of what anyone else thinks.

Anne Marie

That is definitely true, but you also have to look at when it was filmed. This aired back in 2014, a decade ago, the conversation around sexual harrassment has changed since then. Is there still a double standard, yes, but has the conversation moved forward since 2014, I think so. I think it might be handled a lttle differently now.

Anne Marie

I agree, I hate the double standard our culture has about sexual harrassment and men, not caring as much when the man is the victim.

SEASON 6 CAN"T WAIT!!!

Linda

Naya Never said she complained to Ryan she spoke to a director/crew member about what they where going to do about Lea locking herself in her trailer and stopping production for hours and the person she complained to didn't like hearing the truth and took out his anger at Naya. anyway they punished Naya and Lea well you know lea Never gets punished she gets rewarded for her bad behavior .

Linda

I think that too. They did the best they could in a situation that they written themselves and were forced into.

Selma Jabr

I think Naya got temporary written off from yelling at a crew member, not Ryan himself. But it was still over Lea’s behavior. Which is more of a punishment than Lea ever got!🙄

Selma Jabr

I’m excited for s6. This finale was prob the worst. It made no sense at all. Naya mentioned that she was fired from the show because she complained to Ryan about Lea. Something like Lea was being atrocious over her scenes with the dogs. They could have written britt in a little better than trying to have us believe Santana would leave her wandering in an airport for weeks. Rachel moving to LA firmly destroys her character, what little there was left.

Haughtbreaker Nic

If I Am being as fair as possible. A lot of the writing this season suffered due to behind-the-scenes drama/circumstances they had very little control over starting with Cory passing just weeks before filming and ending with Naya essentially being fired from a full-time cast member. Also this season is a few episodes shorter than they are used to so they probably were unaware how they wanted to end the season, maybe I'm giving them too much grace but I do think they tried their best considering how much was out of their control.

Angel Garcia

Yeah the whole Rachel changing career paths was always odd. Most people go on broadway then try do tv/movies & then when they get more known they can go back to broadway with bigger pay etc. but there has been people who leave early/randomly so they can film for pilot week in la/Canada then the show doesn't get picked up or it does then gets cancelled after 1 season. They kinda skipped past sams plot with the photographer taking advantage.

Jackie Warner

Just here to say I would LOVE to see your reactions to the glee project, I remember loving it when it aired and I think you could really speak to the singers talents since its more "raw" vocals.

Tiffany Tews

I love this episode solely because I have a family friend that is an extra in the benefit scene! She sits right up front and you can see her in her blue dress in front doing the electric slide ❤️

Watch Glee again!

Amber Karin

I absolutely agree with everything you said at the end. The Rachel story irritates me so much as it makes no sense. The Sam and Mercedes breakup was weird. The photographer coming on to Sam was a disgusting predator. Under different circumstances I would've thought what Blaine did was cute and romantic but he has to learn how to be on his own and do his own thing. Also I have no idea why Brittany was even in this episode because, aside from dancing for Mercedes, she did absolutely NOTHING. This episode has some of the best songs and also some of the worst. I LOVE All Of Me, Glitter In The Air (which is indeed a P!nk song) and Pompeii. Girls On Film is fun but chaotic and the rest is just weird. Mercedes' song is a Glee original and is called "Shakin' My Head". The lyrics are interesting to say the least: https://genius.com/Glee-cast-shakin-my-head-lyrics Fun fact: Amber Riley's younger sister appears as the girl asking Mercedes for an autograph. Rachel looking up at the sky in the end always makes me cry, especially because of this quote when Finn named a star after himself for her: "Whenever you feel lonely, you can look up at the sky and no matter where I am, you know that I’m looking down on you" 💔😭

Heida

Y'all can hate me on what I'm about to say, but I totally understand Rachels decision to stop Broadway and do something else. First of all, she's still a Teenager. She doesn't have any life experience. All she knew her whole life was "I wanna be on Broadway", so she didn't even think about anything else. Then, she got her dream WAY too easily. Except NYADA kind of, she never had to fought to get to the big stage. AND THEN she gets the opportunity to do something which sounds just as, if not even more exciting - being on a television show about your own life. Sorry, but for me it sounds better than doing Broadway a shirt ton of times a week. And I love Broadway and it was my dream being in theater since I was 10😂 I have to say that they kinda rushed showing her getting tired of doing the same thing 8 times a week, they could've stretched it out 1 - 2 episodes instead of showing it in a song but still. Totally understand her and I will die on this hill defending her😤😂

I’ve rewatched glee over 10 times and I’d love to rewatch it with you! You really see everything from a different perspective when you rewatch a show and you notice so many things that you missed the first time 🥹 On a different note, I feel like I could listen to you talk and share your stories and experiences for hours and was wondering if the podcast is still on the table 🙈 I know I’ll be listening to every single episode lol

Samir

This is why I wrote a story on Heya/Brittana because their storyline was such a missed opportunity by the writers. I hated the way they wrote Brittany so clueless and how they built them up to go to New York and we never saw them there together once aside from Tina’s fantasy dream. It could have been so good! Luckily I got to rewrite it all. Closure! 🥹

Alicia

I actually like American Boy and think it’s a sweet moment, but I totally understand and partly agree with what you said about co-dependency. Most of the Klaine stuff from now on are like that. With the views and writing going down, they unfortunately got affected more than most characters. I personally think that Mercedes doesn’t want to be felt up just as a personal choice with how she sets her boundaries, but I do agree that the break up should have been focused on the distance instead of the lack of sex. Most (if not then all) of the issues that you mentioned can be blamed on the writing. They had a lot to wrap up and needed an excuse to have characters in Lima again for next seasons events. Also Santana is gone because this is the start of Naya being temporarily written off due to yelling at a crew member over Lea’s behavior. We won’t see her again for an episode or 2. Overall, this isn’t my favorite season finale. It is my 2nd to least favorite NY based episode. Only 13 weeks left now!! I’m also for restarting the show! We (all fans) do it all the time. 😬😂 Also with the Patreon update, did anyone else have a problem with the video freezing?
