1st, Rachel has had so many moments where she reflects and feels bad for her behavior (something most of the other characters who are equally as if not more selfish than her have not done). She apologizes and does things for others, but you miss it every time in your constant Rachel bashing, while praising the terrible Sue, bi***y Quinn, diva Mercedes and Santana who is literally the devil.
Also, yes, Finn should think about what he wants more, that is something he just gave up to follow Rachel's dream, but that is not her fault, it is his. And it is inconsiderate of him to just confront her and demand that she change her plans that they had already agreed to together just for him to go and chase something that isnt even his dream, just a current whim pushed on him by Puck. Like, Finn didnt even approach it as a conversation for them to have, just "this is what I want, and you are being selfish for not changing something you have been working for all year to chase something I just thought about a day ago."

Yeah this isn’t my favorite episode either. It definitely has filler energy. Also I personally really like Fighter, but I’m no trained vocal coach.

Wow! I’m surprised by the comments. I personally LOVE this episode. I love Blaine, so I loved seeing him take the lead. I loved all of his songs. I thought he was super sexy in Fighter.

Not a Dr or nurse but I've heard many times over a good bit of some recovery process is on the patient's spirit and mindset. She can either set her mind on walking again and pushing herself through PT and give all her energy into healing. Or do nothing accept her fate and give up.
Was never a fan of this ep much, I think it was a filler as well just because they needed something to time out the season finale.
Also. I love me some Blaine but Fighter was a horrible song for him.

Not my favorite episode… at all lol the highlight for me is Santana’s face when Blaine and cooper were dancing at “hungry like the wolf”

For me, Quinn's situation is not as black and white. Sure, if the doctors are optimistic that she will walk again, she should put her energy there and do everything in her power to make that happen but I think that Artie's right too. She should still at least consider the WHAT IF, should it not work out the way she wants it to. Artie never said tat she wouldn't walk again, he just wanted her to see that it wouldn't be the end of the world if she couldn't. So I can see why Quinn would be pissed when Artie threatened her little optimistic bubble but I don't feel that Artie was wrong to do so at all.

This episode definitely felt like a filler episode, but it did look like they had fun going to the amusement park, etc.
The read I got on Quinn is that she is pushing the overly happy and positive attitude to disguise the anger and hurt that she feels inside. She is definitely justified for feeling both of those things, but it feels like she is overcompensating and keeping it down for other's sake like Rachel who is very emotional about it all, which is also understandable. I also think that she is being pretty realistic about pushing the effort towards physical therapy and setting a goal of walking because truly she has nothing to lose putting effort towards that, especially since the doctor's haven't given her any reason why she shouldn't be. Hers and Artie's situations are completely different as her spinal cord is compressed and Artie's is completely severed (they said this in the first season when he was dreaming about being a dancer). I think there's a bit of projection on Artie's side in that he finally felt like there was someone who he could relate to that could maybe relate to him and he was afraid of eventually losing that.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I see relationships on the back end or things when they're in trouble, so I have heard a lot about what really breaks down a relationship and as far as Rachel and Finn go, their communication is breaking down as they're discovering and opening up to who they are going to be as individuals. Finn earlier said that the only thing he cared about was being with Rachel so he didn't care what he did, which sounds about right for a teenager, but his mind is changing now that he's getting insight into other people's plans, which is also pretty on point for where he's at in life. Rachel is very driven and knows exactly what she wants in life, which doesn't make her a bad person for that, but she is also attaching success to Finn being there by her side. That's a lot of pressure to put on a relationship. The best relationships that I've seen are two individuals who know who they are on their own and who choose to be together because they want to be, not out of need or because they feel the other person completes them or out of obligation. Choice is always a stronger foundation for a relationship than obligation.

This episode is a strange one, it all feels really random. I'm going to talk a lot now and I'm sorry about that lol. But I hope you read it.
I wish they'd had more of a conversation about Sue's baby having Downs Syndrome, or at least shown Sue's emotions about it more. Especially after losing her sister. I feel like that was a missed opportunity.
The actor for Blaine's brother is called Matt Bomer, he's a great actor and singer. I loved him in the Magic Mike movies lol. 🔥 But this whole Blaine's brother storyline felt shoehorned in. At first I was like, ok so Blaine doesn't like to talk about him, that makes it plausible. But after this episode Blaine's brother doesn't only never show up again, but Blaine never mentions him again at all. It's the same thing that happened with Sam's family. It's always bothered me.
The Quinn and Artie stuff in this episode is interesting. I understand what you're saying about Quinn having the right attitude. But I also see things from Artie's perspective. Artie lost his ability to walk from a car accident too and from the start his doctors said that he'll never walk again. This is something we've seen him struggle with thoughout the show. So for Quinn to get into a car accident too must've been like dejavu for him. But then Quinn telling him that her doctors said she could make a full recovery and she's already regaining feeling must feel like a punch to the heart for Artie. And I think that explains his behaviour.
As for the Finn and Rachel stuff, it's complicated for sure. As always everyone sees Rachel as the bad person in all of this but I see it a different way. Rachel is constantly misunderstood. Like she has been SO clear from the start that Broadway and NYC is her dream. Finn has known this since the day he met her. And Rachel has talked to him a few times on screen about their future together and Finn has always been totally and unwaveringly on board. So for him to suddenly have this wobble and question eveything just before her audition must be such a shock for her. Of course she reacted that way. Rachel is often too ambitious for her own good and can unintentionally hurt people while trying to achieve her goals. But she always fixes things, she constantly shows how much her friends mean to her and she always does the right thing in the end. Being ambitious doesn't make her selfish and her ambition and unrelenting drive is what makes a superstar. I will always defend Rachel, sorry. 🤷
Oh and Danny's nipple story at the end make me laugh so much, I miss him being on the videos. He watched every episode of season 1 with you. I wish you'd do some watch parties together again. 💕💕

I agree. I think a lot of people who react to this show never give Rachel the benefit of the doubt or think about context with what she says they just assume she’s a nasty character and can’t be complex. Springing changing of her plans on anyone would make them react that way and it’s not selfish of her to repeat what she’s always said, that she belongs in New York. I do think however, Rachel could communicate better in a way where it doesn’t sound so “me me me”

Absolutely agree. Rachel has always been the driven determined person and while she could have been more open and supportive about hearing Finn out, Finn sprung it on her and then immediately got mad when she reminded him her plans hadn’t changed. Better communication is needed but I hate how some people react to that and are instantly against Rachel. It’s a valid response to being thrown off your original plans 🤷♂️

I have to agree. One of the biggest issues in Glee even though they are consistant and great singers, is giving the most songs and screentime to Rachel/Blaine especially for the remainder of the series from where Audrey is at right now, when there is 10+ other members of the club who have outstanding voices and stories but are always sideline characters to Rachel and Blaine.

Just another example of the writers putting Quinn in an fucked up situation and making her act so weird about it lmao

I think Rachel has every right to be upset with Finn getting angry with her over what he will do in NY. She has always been set to go to NY/Broadway and he has known that from the beginning. And he has said a number of times that he doesn’t care what he has to do he wants to be with her. This is why she didn’t want to get back together with him after NY/nationals and this is why she was concerned with getting married. Him changing the script at the 11th hour and trying to give her a guilt trip isn’t fair or right. I feel bad for Rachel…. People always get hung up in the fact that she says “ I need to go to NY and I need you there with me” like she’s being selfish she’s not she’s just scared to do it without him. But she can.

I'm really not a fan of this episode. I like the songs, but I feel like this was very much a transition episodes to introduce new issues before directly addressing them. That aside, I am looking forward to the next 2 episodes, especially the next one.

Quinn and Artie were so cute before he tried to convince her to stay in the chair, insecurity is never attractive. I enjoyed their duet. I did like this episode. (I was in a wheel chair for a while, and after months I eventually regained my ability to walk after therapy and pushing myself it definitely can happen but if Quinn were to give up she most likely would never get her strength back and I wish that Artie would encourage her instead of thinking of himself.)

I've seen this episode many times before and this is the first time noticed that, when Brittany was taking pictures of Rory with Cooper, the lens cap was on. And still she looked at the display and said, "Perfect."

Yea this episode is weirdly structured. When I rewatch Glee, I often skip this episode but the next 2 makes up for it for sure! You'll love them.
Side note: I don't know if it's just me but I had difficutly hearing your comments while the show was on. It felt like the sound of your mic was low or something...other than that great watch party as always! 🙂

Yes Quinn is right she should be mad about Artie but if u watch a little closely, you can realize that she is a lot more in denial and not dealing with the situation which I kind of have mixed feelings about. Also, you completely missed that sues baby when she says just like you, Becky, she’s inferring that her baby will have down syndrome. I don’t know if you caught that! I think blames voice fit very well with the song you didn’t think his voice it with I just feel like his movements kind of implied that he’s more of a theatrical person.

I have mixed feelings about this episode. I love the songs with Quinn and Artie. I just wish there was more focus on Quinn and how she felt about it all, rather than making this episode about Blaine and his brother. I'm tired of Blaine being pushed so forward while original members are sidelines.

It is a weird ending and while I think that couples do need to listen and communicate and that plans can change, Rachel has always been very clear with Finn that she's going to New York. It's why she didn't want to get back together with him at the end of last season, thinking that she would be going to New York and that he wouldn't want to.
Finn has not been clear on what he wants or where he wants to be. The LA idea seems like a total whim because his friend said it would be cool. That would blindside anyone who has a much more defined goal.
I don't think anyone needs to know what they want at that age but it's probably another reason to avoid marriage as a teenager, lol

Never realized but this EP does end weirdly😅 BUT, can't wait for the next episode cause one of my favorite characters has their first unique appearance 👀
Also, because i weirdly know about it, men have nipples because the embryo develops breasts/nipples before the gender is actually determined. What i did not know is that they can alsp lactate, thats crazy😅

I think Naya (Santana) was genuinely scared of being on that rollercoaster. Just the look on her face and the way she was holding on to Heather’s (Brittany’s) hand for dear life. I think they went to six flags?
I totally agree with you about Quinn. If the doctors are optimistic then why shouldn’t she be? If the doctors then say her condition has unexpectedly worsened then she’ll have to deal with it then.
