Greek myth babes knew Cassie's deal from the name alone. She's a tragic Cassandra. No one ever mentions that, but I've always found it to be a neat little fact.

It allows the grieving to make sense of it in their mind, to see it with their own eyes, and then to move on. Because funerals happen so quickly, I think it's common to still hold onto a sense of disbelief. How could I believe that my mother, (father, friend, etc) who has been there for as long as I can remember, is suddenly just... gone, poof, forever?? I'll believe it when I see it. Object permanence and all that.
