⚠️ NSFW witch hunt

Hi people!

As you might know a large anti-porn campaign has started last weeks on major gaming platforms. For those who know nothing a short review is available on Wikipedia ('video games' section).

As an adult game developer I'm highly concerned with what's happening. ATM MyJLC is delisted from itch together with all other adult games. Though it's still available for you by direct link. I hope we’ll endure this one cleaning, as our contents are quite vanilla. But I have no idea what will happen tomorrow. Next time they might come looking for specific fetishes or any porn, or even uncovered nipples, as some other platforms do.

The primary concept of freedom for me is that your freedom should not limit other people's freedom. I’m totally fine with LGBTQ, feminism, religion and any other personal preferences (including kinks and deviations) while they're your personal choice and you don't force other people. It's clear that some of these groups are restricted in their rights and fairly ask for equality. But no one should rule the world dictating their rules and controlling others' lives and choices. This is nonsense, this goes against democracy, logic and everything I trust in. 

Then the adult industry is already restricted a lot. Most large platforms ban erotic content, the ones allowing it keep it in preservation. Sex-related topics are still taboo in most parts of modern society. More than that, creating adult content is considered a crime in many countries. And now some radical activists are trying to expel us, making everything even worse. They've started with major platforms. Later they might decide to clean Patreon, Google search or hunt down smaller sites. This sounds like a joke, but they already tried to ban porn from OnlyFans a few years ago.

And what scares me the most in this case is that the small group (of radicals) is able to make use of the payment processors’ unlimited power for their needs. And that this ‘power’ even exists. Visa and Mastercard actually hold the monopoly. Worldwide banking and most of the popular payment systems are based on those. They came to the quite large platforms and forced the rules change in a few days without any announcement. What prevents them from forcing rules all over the Internet or even from affecting the politics in smaller countries? This way they’re able to easily smash the economies of dependent countries in a couple of days if they wish.

Oh, I'm bad at writing short posts. All of this makes me anxious, it distracts me and ruins any confidence in my future. But all I can do now is to share my concerns and a few links with you. A kind person spent their time collecting it in one place. Please, find a few minutes to sign the petition, write the email or make a call. If we lose it today, any of your favorite games might disappear tomorrow.
