Regarding the EA situation: With SNK, if anything the have been abided the same freedom as before. There hasn’t been any censorship that I know of with the newest Fatal Fury or Metal Slug Tactics. I’m no defender of Saudi Arabia or Islam in general (quite the opposite), but it’s fairly amusing seeing everyone get bent out of shape of them buying EA yet say nothing of what our own government in the US has done regarding censorship etc. Under the Biden administration we had social media pressured into censoring content and the actual people’s voices, YouTube admitting to censorship on a mass scale due to the Biden administration, the weaponization of the FBI against private citizens, and the list goes on and on. Are we boycotting games made here? No. This also doesn’t take into account the actual game companies pushing the most extreme ideology from the left in games. Breast removal scars to promote transgenderism, a lot of games eliminating the terms Male and Female for character creators, antifa and BLM propaganda, making female characters intentionally ugly while leaving male characters untouched from their celebrity counterparts/real life models, desexualizing female characters while sexualizing male characters, etc etc etc. If anything I’d say the west is creating more censorship than any other place that makes games. The only one you can have any argument for is maybe China. Look at Wu Chang and Guilty Gear. When it comes to character design being censored by China that’s a mixed bag - a lot of the time it’s due to the google play and Apple stores forcing their own policies on companies and don’t even get me started on the payment processors. I also get like saying “we aren’t criticizing the Saudi people” but it’s also fairly hypocritical (not necessarily of the hosts) but when we live in a country where conservatives will be called bigots/nazi’s for their mostly take beliefs and actions, I am willing to bet a lot of money that the average Saudi citizen would be 10 times more extreme in the same beliefs yet they don’t get criticized? This IMO comes from a very out of touch thought process because we live in a rich and free country that doesn’t understand what a lot of the world is actually like. People who live in America that say they hate it wouldn’t last 1 month in 80 percent of the rest of the world. Not everything is good here, but ignorance isn’t a great stance when it comes to these things Honestly, it’s just a wait and see approach. It could make the company a lot worse but it could also clean out a lot of the BS political things and create a more focused EA devoid of drama.
