By our next episode, we should have at least one more Microsoft-centric title lined-up for PlayStation 5, a sign of the times as -- ultimately -- much of that catalog finds itself elsewhere. Meanwhile, problems are brewing in Sony's games-as-a-service initiative. On one hand, Concord's release is imminent, and the excitement level is precariously low. It's unclear whether Firewalk can really pull this thing off. On the other hand, we have second party title Helldivers 2, which has been tinkered with to such a degree that players are being rebuffed en masse. Can Arrowhead turn it around and keep a good thing going? Other news this week includes Dragon Age: The Veilguard's release date, the revival of Tango Gameworks, Final Fantasy VII Remake: Part III's potential move to Unreal Engine 5, and more. My xbox series controller that came with the console hasn't drifted since launch. But every special edition xbox controller I used way less has. It's a lottery. The more we keep blaming users the more companies will get away with this BS.

2024-08-23 02:25:50 +0000 UTCI have anecdotal evidence in favor of Chris's theory of thumbstick drift. Over all my xbox controllers, the ONLY one that got thumbstick drift was the one I used to play Dead By Daylight (heavy use). Back then, they had us rotating and tilting the left thumbstick to do various things and this is the only controller of mine that went bad. Also, I rarely ever "click" in the thumbsticks because I believe that also speeds up the process that causes drift. I always use a controller that gives me an extra button to assign to the "click" of the right and left thumbsticks if I'm playing a game that wants me to click these a lot.

I never had a single issue with controllers from PS1-PS3 then all of a sudden I get a few dualshock 4s and far too many dualsenses that have drift or trigger issues. Why is it so hard to accept that the company is the problem and not the consumer?

I managed to never experience drift in opening all consoles since the PS2, yet after 2 and a half years on not dealing with this on the PS5, I've two controllers have bad drift in a row, both of which were brand new when it happened, including one that was delivered by Amazon TWO DAYS AGO lol.. it's definitely a bigger problem than people think... I can only play my ps5 by hooking up with a USB-C cable AND choosing the option in settings to not use Bluetooth when the controller is connected, to use it as a wired controller instead!

From what I can tell, there is a default "crew" roster from which most people were picking characters from. All 16 characters were not available to choose within a match...so the crew builder is a way to customize your roster of playable characters.

The lead up episodes of Dustin have been nothing but excitement, so I can only imagine the pain they both are in. I verbally said "oh no" once I realized Colin was serious. The name was discontinued because a movie was called Burn Hollywood Burn about director unfortunately named Alan Smithee. And in a case of pure irony the movie was so terrible the director Arthur Hiller didnt want his name on it and they used the name Alan Smithee in the credits. After that movie Hollywood no longer wanted to use the Alan Smithee name if directors wanted to be removed from the credits.

It is literally a known fact that the PS5 controller is a terrible, weak designed device, it is not able to withstand any game that required heavy, intense flicks / movement. You aren’t encountering it because the games you play aren’t intense on the components, it’s as simple as that. The issue is not the player.

It’s simple Colin, you don’t play online PvP online games specifically shooters (Fortnite, apex, call of duty, etc) the sprint and couch being commonally tied to clicking in the joysticks. And Colin you vastly underestimate how many hours people play games like Destiny if you think you are on games longer than most.

My parents divorced when I was at a young age and they handled it well, so I wasn't really affected by it in a negative way and don't really think about it. I also have friends whose parents stayed together, and even without fighting, the coldness and lack of enthusiasm in their relationship affected the children. It's not really to combat anything Colin has said, which I vastly agree with, just a slightly different view of the matter. Also, just wanted to say as other people have already said that my thoughts are with Dustin and Holly. Sending much love in these difficult times for them.

I do think some of it is luck, but I am on my third DualSense since the launch of the PS5 because my first two got stick drift. The first controller I barely even used. I am known by my friends as someone that takes of care of my video game stuff to an excessive degree, and I don’t play aggressively. I use my DualShock 4s a lot more than my DualSenses and they seem to last a lot longer, most of them never getting stick drift.

2024-08-19 17:44:01 +0000 UTCI've gone through two PS5 controllers in the past year and my most played game happened to be Street Fighter 6. Stick drift was gradually more noticeable in non fighting games. I play less on my PC, but the Xbox controller I use there has zero stick drift.

Red controller from last year, left stick drifted. Traded that one for a new black controller at GameStop with the year warranty - drifted in less than two months. GameStop’s trade in with the warranty is you receive a pre owned controller. So this used controller is definitely worn, battery drains quickly, but the sticks work. This must be bad luck because my white controller paired with my console still works like a dream. Am I too hard on my controllers? I think not

There are only too many games if you’re into final fantasy, souls likes, stellar blade, or Helldivers 2. Those require very specific tastes. If you want multiplayer or co-op shooters like gears, or something like the division 2, or wildlands, or gta online, maybe a red dead online that wasn’t abandoned, or a battlefield game that doesn’t suck balls, or anything besides a money grabbing hero shooter, or literally anything that’s not business as usual, you’re shit out of luck right now. This generation, for the most part, feels stale and soulless to me. Is there the occasional gem? Sure, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the Xbox 360/PS3 or even the PS4 generation. Hot take, I know, but somebody has to say it. Thoughts, people?

Making people sign in weeks after launch was a dumb move. PSN is also unavailable in 118 countries around the world. Compared to this to EA (who also makes you sign in the your EA account) who is only unavailable in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Crimea, Russia, and Belarus. People are not mad that you have to sign in, they are mad that Sony does not support more than half the countries in the world not allowing people to play.

For anyone curious, I like to collect controller colors and it allows me to cycle through Dualsense quarterly so they don’t wear down as fast.

So much wasted potential in that country. The people are so nice, the beaches are beautiful. They have a ton of natural resources. Advanced doctors and technology, which most people would be surprised to hear. There’s no middle class so you’re either rich or poor, and that’s caused from the sheer corruption. They did just have a big election though and I’ve heard mixed things about their new madame president. Some good some bad. I guess we shall see, but it’s been like that since I’ve been going there as a little kid.. Anything is possible. So they could turn things around.

The only modern controller i have that hasnt had the sticks crap out is the switch pro controller. The modules they use for the sticks in these modern controllers are known to be cheap. Like lets think here, is it more plausible the massive corporation is cheaping out or that everyone is absolutely railing their sticks? I treat my stuff like its made of fragile glass, and im not hard on my controllers, i only started having sticks crap out this generation. Never was an issue before. N64 all the way to now, im sorry but its obviously the corporation being cheap. There is zero excuse next gen if they dont swap to hall effect across the board. Refusing to move to hall effect (which are far less prone to drift) at this point in time is just blatant cost cutting.

More specifically to Colin and Chris, who I respect immensely, are people who self confess to not liking anything in the main stream popular consciousness in terms of IPs like Marvel, Star Wars or Super Hero content. So I find it hard when they are going to make blanket statements about what is visually appealing or not to the wider market. But I do think it is insane to say that using a similar style of the Marvel movies, most notably Guardians as an influence is an objectively bad idea. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was the fourth highest grossing movie in 2023 and the franchise currently sits at a gross of $2.5 billion worldwide. Colin and Chris with multiplayer games sometimes come across as the Hollywood movie critic that rails against Marvel, Star Wars and Super Hero movies, yet everyone flocks to them and they are consistently one of the highest grossing movies ever year. FortNite, Overwatch, and Valorant are the most played games this year. This isn't a shot at Chris or Colin, I just think it is a blind spot for them and I agree with the listener it would be nice to have someone from that space comment on what they think of Concord maybe as a Plus episode.

The main reasons we've never been great at the games is due to lack of funding over the decades added to the fact Ireland play many other sports (rugby, soccer, garlic football and hurling to name but a few) however since these games there has been a movement to provide more funding to help our athletes make the games in the future, so here's hoping we can do even better in 2028!

They count the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th etc marriages. This greatly skewes the stat in favor of the chronically problematic relationship people. A lot more marriages do not end in divorce than we all think.

It hurts so much more for you guys after being so close to the finish line. We struggle with it everyday and you and Holly will always be thinking about it too. I am so sorry and life is totally just not fair. 😢 I hope Holly and you also seek out therapy (if you find it helpful), as that’s helped my wife greatly. Thanks for all that you do for last stand, but take this time off for healing ❤️🩹 and being there for Holly (and for yourself). My wife and I will be praying for your family. 🙏🏻
