I have zero of his skills or law enforcenent background but I was immediately wondering why he is continually going back to this man that just happened to save him and telling him everything. Why wouldn't it enter his mind that if his brother won't kill shot him, then he'll probably not want him to drown either and will send someone to rescue him? He seems completely incurious about how much he should vet people or watch what he says, while in S1 I really liked how smart he was about infiltrating the island and not getting caught for as long as he could.

That part where the son broke down sobbing to his mother for that one round where he got dragged off straight up choked me. I'm weak for the mother and son characters and I want them both to get out of this alive but that's not likely to happen. People gave the son a little too much hate for the situation that happened. There's a time limit, two desperate men hauling him off and blaring strobe lights that are designed to screw with everyone's cognitive function in a high intense situation. I'm not denying that the son was willing to leave her, but his immediate instinct was to freak out and turn to her. He's shown nothing but love for his mother, how proud he is of being her son and has done his damndest to keep her by his side because he's been nothing but worried for her wellbeing. That scenario was completely against him. Yeah he could a faught harder, but then that'd get him killed and the instinct to survive trumps a lot of things for a lot of people. If I was in his situation, it'd play out the same way because I don't want to die, period. Love that he decided to swap sides and go with X immediately after that traumatizing situation.
