I'm not saying that this is some kind of surreal show, or some kind of psychological thriller. But in the same way they can't listen the soundtrack, they can't see that. In other shows there are narrations, in-universe credits or titles, changes in the color palette... The most surreal thing to happen in the show is the dream sequence this episode. Actually it makes a lot of sense. We only see it for a few minutes, but from our perspective, the characters are small and the picture of the games are big so they stand out to the eyes. The characters could miss it because they are stressed out about the games, the room is a bit dark most of the time and they usually come into the room with their heads down because they are traumatized by what they just saw. We as the viewer are not influence by those specific factors, we can view the wall with a clear mind and see the images that are displayed.

When they first met Gi-hun had that fake gun that was actually a lighter and scared the Recruiter with it.
