I will add onto I feel this way so early on because after the first episode I was so into the concept and everything. I went to read the manga and it slowly started to lose me. for me to be invested into something I HAVE to like the MC and this guy is meh. the world building is good but i just don't care about the MC there for the show lost me. Does that help at all?

But because I like talk i will explain how I FEEL the best i can. the main character has been fighting in mock battles for what 12 to 13 years and hes so weak it feels like a child could dog him. After the first ep i went and read the manga and as an op MC lover i want my MC's to at the VERY least feel capable in some capacity. I was hooked by the idea of infiltrating the rangers with his shapeshifting but he was caught immediately. At the end of the day I don't care if anyone agrees with me because this is how I FEEL.

I guess the main problem with the rangers is that they immediately started trying to use them as entertainment before they even finished the battle during the first year.

If they didn’t stop the fighters, they may have taken over the world. The Ranger’s just decided to utilize the invaders for themselves and everyone’s entertainment. I mean, they are invading aliens, it’s not like they technically have rights on Earth. The human in me can sympathize with Red, but everything else is rooting for Fighter D.

He did use his arm as a fake sword, but also I think he spread "more" of himself in a different place to make it out. If you think about it, The girl used him as bait and even threatened to expose him. Too many people already knew he was a monster (virtually everyone), so he probably tossed her the sword and faked his death to get from under their thumb.

I was also in disbelief when I watched this ep, the ending was such a twist, but then when all the nameless mobs started dancing in the ed song I realized, oh...his role can be refilled.
