Kind of, but creation and rise of Frank's drug operation can be directly attributed to Altons failures as a father. The reason Franklin started selling drugs is because he never had any black male role models who were successful through legitimate means. The only role models he admires were Jerome, Kane(drug dealers) and his Dad(when he was on panther shit). He only saw success through rebellious, shadow economy ways. When Alton came back in the picture after being a deadbeat for the greater part of 20 years Frankin was already the manifestation of what a high IQ black kid with no guidance and opportunities would become. He was a multi millionare and the market for crack was already there. Whether he screwed over his son's operation or not, drugs would still be flooding the community and someone would profit. But almost no other drug dealer during that time would start non profits, open homeless shelters, improve low income housing units etc.,. So what he did was more a net negative than anything else for his community. He was an emotionally led person juxtaposed to a pragmatist and a deadbeat.
