The time has come for many of us to make good on a resolution that we make but never keep up with - to better our own health. The reason why this often fails is that people lack true motivation, self discipline and a support system.
In an attempt to remedy this, I've made my first product from the support of my patrons. A sixteen-inch Sunset Shimmer plushie in the spirit of renewing ourselves. I've devised a plan of five months that will get all those who participate moving and doing things they love and making new friends while you do it! Or (just as good) rekindling old friendships. I promise this experience will open up your world to you in ways you probably didn't know about before. All it takes is a little effort.
But this isn't just for you. I'm using the same strategy on myself. Although it's been a few years since the events that occurred in my story "Memoir on the Mountaintop" and I've gotten some of my strength back - I've decided that this is the year I get it all back. There's no reason to let the mistakes of myself and others keep me from being myself anymore.
Month 1: The Warmup
Increase your flexibility with the following stretches:
Stretch and rotate your neck at least ten times clockwise and counter-clockwise.
Swing your arms in circles forwards and backwards at least ten times.
Scissor-swing your arms in front of you ten times.
Stretch your elbows behind your head.
Stretch your elbows in front of your chest.
Arch your back as far as you can go.
Touch your palms to the floor while keeping your knees straight.
Rotate your hips clockwise and counter-clockwise at least ten times each.
Pull your ankles towards your gluteus.
Hold a Butterfly stretch.
Sit with one leg outstretched and reach for your toes.
Attempt left, right and center splits.
Stretch and rotate your ankles.
Make sure each stretch is held at a point of noticeable pain and inching deeper into the stretch for at least thirty seconds.
Perform 50 quality reps of the following aerobics:
Jumping-Jacks
Squats
Push-Ups
Crunches
Leg-Lifts
Film yourself attempting the challenge as soon as you can. Practice for a few weeks and film yourself attempting the challenge again towards the end of the month. I would also be interested in hearing commentary from you on your progress and what participation is like for you.
