Too be fair, he didnt die to rubble, he got a giant Gum Gum Battle Axe to the skull and sent through multiple concrete floors after already being heavily damaged from the fight. Also ignore the people saying luffy doesnt kill lol, Arlong is gone.

Because in that era, everyone uses their lives to fight for their dreams. For an enemy, when their dream has been shattered, it is the same as losing a fight, and as painful as death. I believe that, as pirates, killing or not killing is secondary to victory or defeat.

They actually shot a lot of scenes in the loguetown arc, for instance the Dragon actor came out and said that he was very dissapointed that they used none of his acting in the show. This was because Loguetown was not included in the LA

The context for why there will be focus on fishmen during those times will also be clearly expressed then too, so you don't need to worry about memorising names or faces or backgrounds of characters that you think might come back again. Just enjoy the show at your own pace lolz.

2024-01-11 14:45:56 +0000 UTCI think it'll be better that, if they're not "dead," then you should definitely assume they've been taken away by the Marines/Navy and locked away in prison. You can assume that for most big names that Luffy takes down, the major enemies, but keep in mind that some previous enemies could come back in the future for whatever reason, whether it's "escaping from prison" or having never "been captured" after their defeat. This is not a spoiler, btw, it's just a clarification on how things in the One Piece world being glossed over have lead to most fans to assume and consider as appropriate "next steps" that we might not see in terms of aftermaths of fights and stuff. But don't worry, because there are several times where we actually find out what happens to a character that may or may not come back, either in following episodes or as flashbacks in future episodes.

The anime adapts this behaviour perfectly.

That's why there's no dead confirmation for the enemies, not only the fishmen but also Don Krieg, Kuro, etc. Oda learned from his grandma that it's not good to express/write about death so easily. So basically Luffy only beaten up the enemies so far.

Someone from this arc will return a few hundred episodes from now and be a part of my personal favorite arc in One Piece. There is a minor detail in this arc that will have a payoff 500 episodes from now. One Piece is nuts.

Compared to shows like re:zero where they remove the intro/outro as well as buy the ad segments from the network to get as much runtime as possible. Not a complaint just a comparison
