We have not memorized the different looks of Mangekyo vs regualr Sharingan, but I think we have a better idea now. Were not looking it up though (to avoid spoilers as well). So we will not know the differences like all of you do.
Also, we of course remember we were told by Itachi, "have to kill your best friend" to get access to Mangekyo, but thats all we know. You guys have to remember we don't know A LOT of whats possible in this show!! It seems VERY possible to think Orochimaru could have found a way to allow Sasuke to access it from an alternate way! I think our assumptions are totally fair if I am being honest.
But I also understand its hard to put yourself in our shoes with not knowing what characters are capable of and just not knowing what is possible in this show. But try and keep that in mind! I think there would be less comments like, "How can you guys forget how Mangekyo is attained?" and there would be more comments like, "Interesting! I can see how one might think that"
It's crazy what Naruto is willing to do for Sasuke!

For example, the writer had no idea what to do with Sakura (not a spoiler btw). People complained Sakura had poor character development until at least when she started train with Tsunade. People need to allow them to forget or not remember certain information. That's the whole point of the reactions. You either like their reactions or you don't. Don't have to rub it in when they forget information.

At times, it honestly feels like all the characters have mild brain damage: one person says something, and it cycles through all the others staring blankly for five minutes until it finally registers lol.

So far in the anime, the only thing Sasuke and 'we' know about the Mangekyo Sharingan is that he can get it if he kills his best friend. Everything beyond that is only explained later in the anime. Am I wrong?

When I first saw those corridors again during this arc I was like "omg, this is it, this is the scene they teased us back then !" haha. Remember you get the mangekyo by killing your best friend or whoever's closest to you, which sasuke has yet to actually do. Therefore, he still has his normal sharingan. Regular sharingan's are the ones with those 3 dots. Mangekyo sharingan are the ones with the crazy looking designs. Btw there are many different mangekyo designs, so don't expect them to all look like itachi's or kakashi's. It's unique to the person.
