0:21 Bank of America Business Cash Rewards +3% offer
Called the “Plus 3 Rewards Bonus Offer”
Came via email. Subject is “Give your Business Advantage credit card a +3% Rewards Bonus”
Basically, +3% on $50k in spend
Cash loads as Computer Services (PCPTech) are earning 3%, so this really is a great way to get paid to do more pay by phone
Just after recording this show cash loads switched to PCPWork, testing if this codes as 3% with office category.
Quick reminder on this card: Can get uplift from BofA premium rewards
Spend window July 1- Sept 30 so don’t start spending yet.
Capped? Uncapped? BofA Fraud Alerts will likely be the limiting reagent anyway
HT to Travelwithapoint
Targeting can also come via USPS mail
Worth moving $100k over? Hmm…
Recap and Thoughts from MSP 2024
13:19 Outbound
Sam: Delta
Booked with sky miles
Non elite, was offered same day change for $75 or same day standby for free.
Didn't end up using either but love the BYOE of booking a flight and changing for $75.
First upgrade was priced as the differential day of $250
Robert: Delta
Booked Main Cabin
Upgraded to Comfort+ at time of booking
Price premium for first was enough that I hoped for an upgrade
Wasn’t even close. Like 18 out of 63 on the list.
Comfort+ was fine though. Flight goes by fast with WiFi.
17:40 Sky Club
LAX: Overcrowded
Main sky club is nice! But too busy
The secondary club in T2 is not as fancy but stocked identically.
Not having kids to try to get in was nice.
Unsure how I can get all 4 of us in now, I only have 3 platinum cards!
BOS: Nice
20:15 Venue: MSP Conference Center
The location is really great, airside and directly above a delta club.
MSP as an airport is unique— it is a DL Hub but doesn’t have much ‘clutter’
I transited DEN on the way back and in contrast that place is a beast
About 40% of people caught a flight home right after the meetup, from the terminal
They’re expanding, opening a new 2x as large space soon.
Highly recommended if you need somewhere quiet to work, just great people doing good things
27:27 IHG Intercontinental
Easily the nicest hotel attached to MSP Airport (It is also the only hotel ‘attached’)
Most people I saw checking in were airline crew. Why is this an IC?
Attached to the airport but really not more convenient than any other hotel due to the closure of TSA checkpoint.
The walk is not insignificant. If you landed like I did in a G gate the curb and a shuttle to the Hyatt/Hilton/Marriott would be a shorter walk I bet.
Super.com did work! I got a text that it might take 1-3 days to confirm the booking but it seemed near instant.
We should probably coordinate with the hotel to buy out the bar next time ahead of time.
30:02 Meetup
Highs: Seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones.
Really great to hear from some new members who made it out and felt ok with sharing during the talk
Good to see how groups stayed together during the weekend and I’m 100% confident great connections were made
This really is what the meetup is all about. Putting faces to names, and being around like minded people when we’re not usually able to be.
Appreciate the spirit of openness and collaboration that came from the day
Lots of people offered to help out with logistics, fortunately there wasn’t much that MSP didn’t take care of!
Fluz: Fragile and I’m not confident it will laste beyond today, whatever day today is.
45:01 Sunday Golf
2 4-somes
Thanks to Dunizio for doing the setup
Univeristy of Minnesota course
Fun, scramble format.
45:57 Return
Sam: Double Booked
Booked both Delta (with miles) and Southwest (with Travel bank)
Schedule change hit both, which worked well to get me onto a much more expensive Southwest flight for no difference.
Robert: Delta
Same. No upgrade.
Comfort+ is totally fine.
I really like how Delta has become such a big player in Boston. I don’t think I need status to enjoy flying with them.
51:05 Palm Springs Trip Report
Neat small town feel.
Population is nearly flat over the last 20 years
Too hot in the summer
Vacasa has a good presence, the city has some strange short term rental laws (no amplified sound at all)
Great to get away from the city (<2hr drive) and lounge at our ‘vacation home’ with a pool
Great meal at https://www.roosterandthepig.com/
MUCH easier to do these trips on non-holiday weekends. Less traffic, less people, more enjoyable.
Vacasa trending up!
