Let's talk brand deals!

There are many different ways you can work with brands, the most common ways are through partnerships, affiliate programs, and per-contract deliverables.

Partnerships: You are contracted to work with said brand for XYZ amount of time. It is common for brands you're partnered with to ask for exclusivity, meaning they don't want you to use or promote their competitors while you are under contract.

Affiliate Programs: PLEASE ask for a contract or agreement in writing when working with any brand but I've found it's common for affiliate programs to have an agreement, not a contract. You get less than partners but you don't need to be exclusive and you still get a commissionable discount code. You are not as likely to be directly paid here though unless you negotiate terms.

Per-Contract: Where you are paid a rate or gifted product to make a certain amount of posts on specific platforms. There is a lot more room for negotiation and no need for exclusivity but you don't have a close relationship to the brand here. However, these contracts are a great way to get brand work in and get yourself noticed!

For any type of brand work PLEASE look up FTC guidelines to ensure you're disclosing your work properly. Even if you aren't paid in $$ or under contract, you MUST always disclose if you're working with a brand.
