New Direction: Exciting Game Development Ahead!
Added 2024-05-26 14:47:50 +0000 UTCHey everyone,
I have some exciting news to share! I'm planning to develop a new game—it's been 10 years since the release of Elliot Quest, and I believe Patreon could be a great platform to gather support for this project. While I'm still in the early stages of planning, I wanted to give you a heads-up about this new direction.
Initially, I considered leaving Patreon because it felt more like a store for my assets rather than a community where I could share my work and connect with supporters. It started to feel too much like a business, which wasn't my original intention. I began creating game assets to improve my pixel art skills, aiming to make better art for my next game. However, I realized that I had strayed from my initial goal of being an indie game developer and had become primarily an asset creator. This was not where I wanted to be.
Instead of shutting down my Patreon, I've decided to refocus and realign with my original goal of developing games. I hope to create a more engaging and supportive community around this journey.
If you're interested in being part of this journey, stay tuned for more updates. Your support will be crucial in bringing this game to life, and I'm thrilled to have you along for the ride.

2024-05-26 16:29:42 +0000 UTCGlad to hear you ate refocusing your goals. Money is important, but it shouldn't be the only thing. It is easy to lose sight of what we try to accomplish by ensuring we have the cash to do it. It's a means to an end. Not the end itself. This is something I still struggle with. I wish you the best!

2024-05-26 15:36:00 +0000 UTCSo what I’m doing now is offering volunteer game writing and narrative design — I know smaller games don’t really need much of that and I know us indie devs usually like to do that ourselves, but it’s a field I’m trying to break into and I do write well, especially barks and dialogue.
