New Direction: Exciting Game Development Ahead!

Hey everyone,

I have some exciting news to share! I'm planning to develop a new game—it's been 10 years since the release of Elliot Quest, and I believe Patreon could be a great platform to gather support for this project. While I'm still in the early stages of planning, I wanted to give you a heads-up about this new direction.

Initially, I considered leaving Patreon because it felt more like a store for my assets rather than a community where I could share my work and connect with supporters. It started to feel too much like a business, which wasn't my original intention. I began creating game assets to improve my pixel art skills, aiming to make better art for my next game. However, I realized that I had strayed from my initial goal of being an indie game developer and had become primarily an asset creator. This was not where I wanted to be.

Instead of shutting down my Patreon, I've decided to refocus and realign with my original goal of developing games. I hope to create a more engaging and supportive community around this journey.

If you're interested in being part of this journey, stay tuned for more updates. Your support will be crucial in bringing this game to life, and I'm thrilled to have you along for the ride.

Glad to hear you ate refocusing your goals. Money is important, but it shouldn't be the only thing. It is easy to lose sight of what we try to accomplish by ensuring we have the cash to do it. It's a means to an end. Not the end itself. This is something I still struggle with. I wish you the best!

Thanks for letting me know, in case I need some help I will turn to you. Cheers!

Hey, thanks for the answer. I can certainly sympathise and I am curious how things will develop in the future. Thumbs up from me :)

Yes, you're right. Initially, I considered leaving Patreon because it felt more like a store for my assets rather than a community where I could share my work and connect with supporters. It started to feel too much like a business, which wasn't my original intention. I began creating game assets to improve my pixel art skills, aiming to make better art for my next game. Instead of shutting down my Patreon, I've decided to refocus and realign with my original goal of developing games. I hope to create a more engaging and supportive community around this journey. I appreciate your understanding and hope some of you will continue to support me in this new direction. Thank you for being a part of this transformation.

I am very much confused. Didn't you say you wanted to leave Patreon because it didn't work for you anymore?

So what I’m doing now is offering volunteer game writing and narrative design — I know smaller games don’t really need much of that and I know us indie devs usually like to do that ourselves, but it’s a field I’m trying to break into and I do write well, especially barks and dialogue.

THanks , I have delayed my game development because I was too busy with game assets, now I want to change directions and go the game dev route.

Luis Zuno

Interested!
