Basically, the content of the contract is that Echidna would have used every possible path to sate her greed before reaching the final one. Which means, Subaru would have died countless of times to reach the optimal future, with the price being Subaru losing his humanity. In the Greed IF chapter, Subaru died like 100.000+ to overcome the events related to the sanctuary and the mansion. He went over 1millions deaths at the end of the chapter (that special chapter happens 2 or 3 years after season 2) Subaru is devoid of all emotions, just a inhumane doll controled by Echidna which, despite having saved everyone in the physical sense, everyone around him is broken aswell. (Beatrice and Emilia are broken and depressed, Otto left Subaru, ect...)
