Cutting through all the politician rhetoric and evasive terminoloy, here's an (oversimplified) way to make treatments like psychedelics, etc available to vets through the VA: waivers releasing the VA and all connected from any litigation related to adverse events or ineffecacy from experimental treatments. I don't like hearing him say he needs to see data when you can find a shocking amount of contradictory data on globally recognized treatments such as SSRIs, or even "we don't know why it works but it seems like it does" such as amphetamines for ADHD. My point being, a lack of concrete and irrefutable data has not been necessary to bring these other treatments to the mainstream, why can't we do the same thing with psychedelics? And I can't listen to him talk about money going to the wrong places or organizations when big pharma is one of the most powerful, wealthy, and corrupt organizations the world has ever seen. Kudos to Shawn and the gang for landing yet another big name for the podcast, extras kudos for continuing to press him and not back down, but at the end of the day, we need to see more action from the VA leadership and much less talk from them about how it needs to be fixed.

I have had frustrations with the WSJ over the past few years. This interview sealed the deal for me. Canceled my subscription with them after listening.
