It should have nominations in every supporting category and in every technical category If you have not seen Nickel Boys do your self a favor and see #REAL cinema. In the words of saucy Santana “It was a surprise release with no promo it was only on Apple Music the first day it just got up on mf Spotify 9 days ago we don’t care about the streams, this wasn’t for no billboard or nothing like that this MOVIE was for the streets”

2025-03-03 15:56:53 +0000 UTCanora winning is so fucking weird and not in an extremely unexpected way but in a ‘really? this??’ the committee saw that shit and thought wowww that’s such best picture material…the sweep is confusing me bc not only is it NOT a phenomenal movie, but i can’t even be like ‘yeah it ain’t for me but i get it!’ like line her up with the last five years and it’s a head scratcher to me. also fuck the director he’s a zionist and a freak for the way he talked about mikey. idk i hate everything this movie represents i think. i’m assigning a lot to it but it feels grimey to see the way the two lead actors were treated.

But i think it would get too Moonlight (discourse and marketing wise) and with how the movie ends its would add extra level of trauma that is seen far too often in Queer films with little to no hope for our lovers. so I think it was good narrative choice to keep it friendly or brotherly.. And also them not being lovers but being so soft with each other is the heart of the story. them just finding the humanity in each other in a place trying to strip them of it.

The Oscar's need to have a rigorous system for voters where they need to verify that they watched all the nominated movies. Remember those Accelerated Reader quizzes, where you had to take a test and past a certain percentage to verify you read the book? They need to do that with the movies.
