Mary, I teared up so much too when I heard Judy sing Somewhere Over the Rainbow when first seeing as if the scene and song came from heaven itself so, having worked at MGM and promoting the film's video release wrote a screenplay entitled "Beyond the Rain", her dialogue just before she sings it -- a modern fantasy romance about a retiring film professor and the students who love him and give him a section of the actual yellow brick road and when stepping on it is transported back to his youth to the girl he always wanted to marry, the regret of his life. My script is riddled with clips from the film that echo the plot and characters. Garland's performance is so magically pure you don't believe she's acting. I wish I could email it to but I know that's against your rules. I have so many inside stories. The film is so divinely perfect in its story structure I believe God had a hand in its making.

There's a sequel to this that would make a fun reaction it's called "Return to Oz" (1985). Also if you haven't seen "The Wiz" (1978) it's definitely worth checking out.

Regarding Somewhere over the Rainbow, the version by the Big Iz, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, is essential:
