I commented this a bit ago, but, if you want to watch another wonderful Steven King / Kathy Bates movie, check out "Dolores Claiborne" from 1995. It's nothing at all like Misery. I won't spoil whether or not Kathy is playing as the bad guy again, or maybe someone we're supposed to root for. But I will say I think you'll really enjoy the specific kind of energy the movie radiates.

2024-10-22 05:34:55 +0000 UTCThis movie is so disturbing. I have broking both of my legs before, and it sucks, but I didn't have someone like Annie Wilkes taking care of me and hobbling me every time they got mad. My experience being laid up was more like the movie Rear Window.

2024-10-21 12:37:05 +0000 UTCThe book actually does build tension very well. This is arguably the best movie adaptation of a Stephen King novel, though The Green Mile is also excellent. Kathy Bates won a well deserved Oscar for her chilling portrayal of Annie Wilkes. If you’re interested, the second season of the short lived tv series Castle Rock explores Annie’s backstory a bit.
