Road to Recovery (the last vid like this)

As each day goes by I've been receiving more messages from people wondering how I've been getting on since my last video - so it seemed appropriate to release one final video on this topic.

Here it is https://youtu.be/lEyUG_QFj9g

Road to Recovery (the last vid like this) Road to Recovery (the last vid like this)

Comments

Sending my continued best wishes for a speedy and full recovery Mat. Take care, and take it easy.

Mark Gough

Glad you are looking and feeling better. Take care of yourself, we're all behind you and will be here when you're able.

Arthur Robillard

Look at what becoming a vegan for a month can do to your body. Everything tastes bitter when you have flu. Get well soon

Stuart Jones

I had COVID in 2019-2020 and it was the worst 6 months of my 82 years! Good luck and get back to 100% soon. and continue your wonderful videos!

John F. Palmer, Jr.

Glad you're on the mend! Sounds like a nasty bout you were fighting with.

Ryan MacMichael

Oof Just now watching the video. When I had covid in 2020, I had a similar thing for a day with prediction on TV as well. Then I got so sick I couldn't watch TV without being sicker feeling. After my hospital stay I was disassociated for like 3 or 4 days. Felt as I was on auto pilot watching over my shoulder. Time slowed to a crawl. Was actually my body getting ready to reboot. I was worn out and fatigued I've since thought. Body told me to slow down and chill out. To the road to full recovery Mat. 💚💚

BlueChainsawMan

He always looked great ☺️

Grace Robbins

Hit me with your Techmoan stick, Hit-Clips, Betamax and Laserdisc, Does replacing the belt give it a fix? Hit me with your Techmoan stick, HIT ME! In all seriousness Mat, please consider being 100% fit and ready before you churn out any videos. I feel like you would regret making something when your voice isn't 100% right. You can find things to do to abide your time while you recover. Ask others for suggestions? Give us your top 10 Rap albums? Plan more content in advance? I respect whatever decision you make either way. Maybe get yourself some Dextro tablets, or if you want a real treat, look for a drink called "Enerzaid" it's like the original Lucozade but without sweeteners. If your feeling better and brighter, all we can say is that it's a step forward and not a step back, and that's a good thing. Take care, and take it easy.

Marc Carran

Good to see you on the mend! Looking forward to new videos!

Rooster Garfield

Matt looks great. He looks like he could be related to Ringo Star.

Jeff Tiberend

"This thing reads like stereo instructions!"

moosemaimer

Great to see and hear you are recovering, even if it feels really slowly to you! Take care

Greg Neilson

Great to see you Mat! I think the weight loss looks good on you, you have a nice chiseled jawbone going on with that designer stubble. Look forward to seeing the video.

RobotOnline

Take care Mat hope you get better soon

Norman Walker

Their brain is so broken they can't even read the 'Brain User Manual.'

Grace Robbins

You’re on the road to recovery, but it looks like it might be a long drive. Don’t be scared to pull over for a rest and we’ll be here.

Phil Collins

Sorry you haven’t been well Mat and glad you’re on the road to recovery. All the best and thanks for the update.

Nik Radusin

Good to hear you're getting better. Keep it up! Hopefully you'll have an easier time with food soon, that sounds particularly awful. Looking forward to seeing you back at 100%

zjd

Glad you're turning things around. Good luck dear sir! 🙏

Amro

The "people don't use all of their brain" is proven to be wrong btw. The problem with most people is just that they don't use their brains _well_. 😂

Thomas Fuchs

Great to see you are on the road to recovery.

Rob Franklin

Hang in there! You sound a lot better and more with it than last time. I've had my share of weird sicknesses and sometimes it just takes a while (and a lot of the body's resources) to get over it, even with the best medical help. Sending good thoughts and take all the time you need.

Thomas Fuchs

Keep getting on the mend, Mat. Glad to know you are up and about!

LeRoy Dreyfuss

Hi, Mat, Personally, I'm still concerned you are taking things too fast. I am worried you may exhaust yourself and set back your recovery. It's great to see you looking a bit better, but don't risk a relapse, Pal. Take care. S&S

Stephen Bell

Thanks for keeping us posted on your recovery. You've mentionned several times how awful you look, to be honest I think you look... not like yourself, but a far cry from awful now... not that my opinion does you any good. Anyway I'm glad you're on the mend.

Grosporina

I am glad you are turning around. :)

Benjamin Giguere

Thanks for the update Mat! You definitely look and sound already much better! Take it easy and all the time it needs to get better!

MrHammond

Glad to hear things are improving!

Longplay Games

Keep on the road to recovery Mat, sending you my best wishes

Karl Dawson

Hang in there! I'm glad you are doing better!

CornetTheory

Looking forward to the new channel : Techmoan - Psychic Connections!

Ant Wakefield

Great to see that you're on the mend, sounds like it's been absolutely awful. Look after yourself.

Steve Bailey

Great to see you're getting better, and back in the studio. Looking forward to your next video. Keep well! 🙏

Craig Lemon

Look after yourself Mat, take it easy and don’t rush yourself. All the best, Mark.

Mark Persad

Nice to see you feeling better, at least a little. Take all the time you need and maybe a bit more, health is only one and it's the most important thing.

Simone Camanini

I really hope it won't come to that but... Things are wild

Raul Ramos

Please do not rush recovery after such a severe illness - take all the time you need!

Harald Dehner

Glad you are on the mend. Take all the time you need.

Toy Polloi

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Jason Wellband

Well, you look and sound better than last time, but I can tell you aren't back 100% yet.

The 8-Bit Guy

Thanks for keeping us posted, and so good to see you!

Listener Bob

Coincidentally he retold that story last week, in an interview on Katee Sackhoff’s podcast. I guess enough time had passed that he could also reveal the ending, where Picard says “We’re going to try it. Mr Data, tech the tech!” :-)

Listener Bob

Sent you a message through patreon...

David Butler

Great to see you, Matt. Probably not your thing, but I'll pray for you. Best wishes!

AreYouPayingAttention

Take your time and glad you're making progress, happy to be a patron in good times and slow times

Jonathan Bittner

What a great guy. Love Him.

Peter Jensen

Not if you depolarize the phase variance first!

Tunix

Glad u makimg a good recovery. Been enjoying older videos so much of a back catalogue. Take care

Retro Nick

Glad to see you are feeling a bit better, you seem more like your self 😊

Barry Pearsall

I hope your voice fully recovers, all the very best. Get well soon.

Lachlan

Tunix, that's a super-cool story! But... Wouldn't you overtech the tech if you teched it that much?😃

Mark Hesse

You could train an AI on your normal voice... Then use it for some videos when you get your next scratchy throat. Regardless- thrilled to see you're on your way to bring healthy again

Brian Stearns

Glad to see your recovery is progressing well.

Alex Russell

This brings to mind an old interview with Ron Moore about writing for Star Trek (2009, Sci-Fi Wire): … He described how the writers would just insert "tech" into the scripts whenever they needed to resolve a story or plot line, then they'd have consultants fill in the appropriate words (aka technobabble) later. "It became the solution to so many plot lines and so many stories," Moore said. "It was so mechanical that we had science consultants who would just come up with the words for us and we'd just write 'tech' in the script. You know, Picard would say 'Commander La Forge, tech the tech to the warp drive.' I'm serious. If you look at those scripts, you'll see that." Moore then went on to describe how a typical script might read before the science consultants did their thing: La Forge: "Captain, the tech is overteching." Picard: "Well, route the auxiliary tech to the tech, Mr. La Forge." La Forge: "No, Captain. Captain, I've tried to tech the tech, and it won't work." Picard: "Well, then we're doomed." "And then Data pops up and says, 'Captain, there is a theory that if you tech the other tech...'" Moore said. "It's a rhythm and it's a structure, and the words are meaningless. It's not about anything except just sort of going through this dance of how they tech their way out of it."

Tunix

Glad to see things are gradually getting better.

Taras Young

Happy to see you’re on the mend, you’re already sounding more like you than in the previous video. Looking forward to the next ‘real’ video, but please don’t overexert yourself.

Michael Steenbeek

Glad to see you feeling better. Take it slowly, don't overdo things.

Big Car

Sense of humour is back, and you're looking and sounding much better. I was pleased to see positive comments on recent public videos, presumably by those who weren't aware of what was going on, but had obviously been told by someone here!

Brad Jones

Sounding much better looking visibly better. Take time to recover fully.....

Martin Dooley

Hi Rich!

Dave Velociraptor

Great to see you're on the mend, you look a lot better than a few weeks ago! It's frightening how fast one's health can shift for the worse, but it makes you appreciate when it's good. I had some unexpected heart problems last fall that took me a few months to recover from, and the best advice I have is be kind to yourself and be patient with yourself. It's good to move around and do things when you can, helps you start building back the muscle you lost, but when you need rest, rest. It's so boring laying around doing nothing, but you only slow down your recovery when you over-exert yourself. Thanks for the updates, can't wait to see the new studio (when you're ready to show it off) . Cheers!

Dawn Anthes

You're very welcome, sir. Continue to mend.

Joseph Dougherty

Good to see you looking and sounding a bit more like your normal self, Matt. Pleased to have been able to help you through in small way.

Stuart Feltham

A brief 'pulse check' message. 💓

Grace Robbins

Looking much better Matt - great to see you being more positive 👍🏻

drnickyp

Keep on keeping on.

REDR58

I imagine the shower gel would have tasted like an excellent meal, all things considered. 😯

Grace Robbins

I'd rather be an in-home carer and assistant - getting everything moved from upstairs down to the new studio.

Grace Robbins

Given what Mat revealed about his heart rate going through the roof, I was a little surprised that the Mrs didn't insist on sending him to the Emergency Department or whatever it's called in the UK (Casualty?).

OzRetrocomp

Glad your feeling better. Take it slow and don't push yourself too hard. I think I speak for all your fans when I say we're not going anywhere we just want you well ♥️

Renn

It was nice to hear the traditional sign-off, as it shows you're on the mend. Please don't rush back into the old schedule until you're 100% ready to do so. Take care, Mat.

OzRetrocomp

Yes, don't watch the news. I need to get out of this country before we're not allowed to leave. That may be the next thing.

Grace Robbins

That sounds super rough. I'm glad you're finally getting better, don't push yourself too hard.

Timothy Roller

As always, thanks for letting us know you're still alive. Hope you post a 'heartbeat' Patreon text update in a week, if even to say, "Yup, still alive. Still have my dry wit."

Randall Jennings

Sounds like you should have been in hospital at some point! Bet the Mrs thought it was man flu, right? We all have been watching your videos for years , and look forward to the weekend satire. We alll feel we kinda know you. Seem you have celebrity status now as we are all prying into your private life. Get well soon! Just take your time.

nofintuna

It pains me that you've gone through this. It would have scared me, too, about your resting heart rate being so high. Good to not have those details at the time. 🥹 Flippin' heck ... have to wipe my eyes. Okay, well I'm relieved you're improving day by day. Just know there are people who care about you and your witty and comforting presence - especially when we have a mess on our end and want to escape for a little bit. I'm glad you're here. Take care 🤍

Grace Robbins

Good to see that you are better now. I can tell from the way you speak. The flow is back to normal while your voice is still rough. Take it easy and focus on your health. Videos can wait....

Holger P Kleinert

Glad to see you looking sounding better. Best wishes and hoping it's not too long before you are feeling a lot better.

Richard Shears

Glad you are coming back to yourself and hopefully you'll improve greatly. Get well soon and as always, thanks for making

Graham O'Mara

Mat doesn't realise that most TV programmes are derivative. I can imagine them planning the next episode of Countryfile and saying "shall we use the birds script, the cattle script, or the sheepdogs script ?". p.s. I'm sure your next video will be more interesting than Countryfile.

Duncan

So happy to see you and your continued improvement! Take care.

Christina Reardon

Well you definitely look better! Only upwards from here on out!

Shawn

Hi Matt, so glad to see you in better condition! But honestly, please don't you worry about having lost weight! If any, this is the only positive outcome of that illness. And at least to me, you look even better than before. Maybe you just have to get used to that new shape of yours? Take your time, don't force anything, just live ;-)

Gerald Hunker

I'm so glad you're on the mend!

Bruce Grembowski

So glad you're getting better. Your excellent sense of humor, even when you're not feeling at your best, comes through...I got a couple of good laughs from your commentary. Thanks for posting this. Very excited about the new studio, but more than anything, I'm happy to see that you're on the mend.

Bill Smartt

Perhaps a donation drive for a new wardrobe?

Keith Somerville

The old sign off returns, that's a good sign! Great to see how much better you're doing - that first update with you fighting for breath whilst looking like you were being crushed under the weight of an invisible concrete blanket was a shock, so its good to see you looking much more like yourself again 😊

Pete Hepple

so good to hear the sign-off again we're all so used to

Tsia

Thank you for the update video. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Gadgetman

Glad to hear you're getting better. When you mentioned the smell thing I immediately thought back to 14th Feb, just over a month ago I got a strange smell that I immediately identified as smelling like my old grandma when she got dementia. It stayed with me for over two weeks and matches your description, affecting things I ate. I realised that I was not getting anywhere near enough sleep (2-3 hours per night max). Fixed that by sleeping 8 hours per night for a fortnight and making sure to let the crap in my brain get washed away with the "cleansing pump" you get when you really go to sleep, and the smell finally went away. By the way, my grandma in her late 90s would also mention every minute that she'd seen the TV show before even for live TV. Perhaps the same bug and it replicated some of the symptoms of old-age dementia? Very odd!

Marcel Ward

You’re looking and sounding a lot better - which is great news!

John Scott

You mentioned the exact reason I wouldn't get a visable tatto

Erik

I’m so glad that you’re recovering. Of course, it never comes as quickly as we’d like. I do miss your entertaining videos, some of the best on YouTube, but I can easily wait while you get better. In fact, I do enjoy looking at your older videos. I just watched the review of a high tech toaster the other day. It made me smile. Keep getting better, Matt.

CrimsonPig808

He has risen! Praise be upon to him, he was (feeling) dead and is no longer! All hail Techmoan.

Martipar

I'm happy for you and also that the tiny light in the tunnel is coming closer and closer for each day. Life is strange as your experiences have shown .... Great news and nice to see you coming back again!

Pin Swede

I'm not sure what the nutritional value of shower gel is and you don't want to start blowing bubbles like Thomson and Thompson in the Tintin books, but otherwise it's good to see you recovering.

David Peaker

You definitely sound better than the last update video you released. So glad you are continuing to improve. Nice that you haven’t lost your sense of humour you sure have/are ‘going through it. 👍🏻

JemTheWire

So glad that you're making good and steady progress.

Graham Kendrick

Hey Matt you are looking good for being so sick! Happy you are on the upswing

Erik

You’re the best Mat. Anything we can do to help you? Need an editor for example?

Bryan Hamill

We're so happy you're on the road to recovery, love from Dave and the family ❤️

David Potter

I think you look a million times better. However, I am glad you are still holding off. Get stronger!

Robert Mendez

Good to see you Mat. Mind your self . Your getting there and thanks for video and update. Get well and stay on the road to recovery ☘️ 🙏

MJFJ

Looking great! I can see the hands and eyes. Last year I was also unwell, not that level though. But I had streams of memories. Maybe my brain melted partially. It was weird and... Somehow painful, to get all those memories streaming out of control. Weird Anyway you keep at it. No hurry for the videos. No hurry for anything. Being alive is good. Also, don't watch the news. But if you do and you know what's coming Tell us, at least me Perhaps invest

Raul Ramos

Re-runs, good idea. "This is my favourite/most-viewed/etc video because..." What happened during shooting, why does it stand out, etc.

CBits Tech

Great to see you on your way to recovery. I hope you will feel 100 % soon.

Mark Korp

So glad to see that you're regaining your health for real this time. Sure hope you lose your sense of taste again--that's a weird thing to say! I should also say you'll probably appreciate losing the ability to predict TV programming details--sounds like an annoying sort of super-power to have.🤔 Cheers Mat!😃

Mark Hesse

Mat, I mean this in the nicest possible way, you still look like crap, but you look so much better than you did in the previous video. The old Mat is showing through now, and you seem to pick up steam the further into the video you get. I've never heard of someone being so ill with a virus, I'm surprised you weren't admitted to hospital. Probably best though, less chance of catching something else at home. It doesn't matter in the big scheme of things, but I've really missed the regular videos. Don't go back too quickly, but I hope your recovery accelerates.

CBits Tech

I’m very happy to see constant improvements. Take your time to full recover, and take care, Don’t worry about how much time do you need

Clemente d'Angelo

I am glad to hear you are "on the mend." For those of us who have been through a significant illness, I am sure we all would say that you need to take time for yourself to get better. Everything else can wait. You must have your health first. We will be here when you return. In the meantime, we will be thinking of you, and wishing you the best for a speedy and complete recovery.

Charles Gage

Good to see you considerably better, Mat. You could use this to your advantage:set up a second channel as a psychic weight loss guru.

Andrew Torrance

Glad you are doing better but for dog's sake, if you need a break, take a break! Also ... re-runs? Can you repost your Classic Hits?

Peter Laws

Very good to see you again. I'm glad your recovery is going well. Stay strong, my friend! 💪

Tom Holec

Hope you're better soon, you definitely look better than the last video so you're heading in the right direction.

andreas wheeler

You sound so much better and you seem a lot brighter - I know the Gods of the YouTube algorithm are probably not forgiving but please make sure you're feeling 100% before you return. I went through my own long-term illness recently and regret trying to get "back to normal" too quickly as with hindsight it hampered my longer term recovery a bit.

Philip King

Glad to see you Mat. Very nasty illness, good it's getting better. To the broader audience you can always say: it's the wonder of Ozempic.

Jędrzej Krupiński

So glad to see your continued improvement!

Antony

Keep going Mat. Every now and then I’ve thought “I hope he’s doing OK”. Hope you’re back at 100% soon.

Kirk Northrop

Get well soon,Mat! 🍀🍀🍀🤞🤞🤞 I just got a similar Mitsubishi AC. Heating works like a charm. Let's see how it's going to work in the summer. Best from Germany 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Matt B.

Nice to see you in better shape! Looking forward to whatever you bring online 😁

Christian Giudici

Glad to see you’re on the mend! Be well!

Jennifer Boyd

Wow you lost alot of weight. It actually suits you. You look a few years younger. Take that as a compliment.

Badonicus

I can see the latent enthusiasm! Glad you’re on the mend - you’ve been missed! 🤓

Raymond Okoński

As a fellow victim i do know how slow recovery is..stay positive

allister mckillop

So glad to see you making constant improvements. Wishing you well on the continued recovery. Regards

James(UK)

Nice to see you going forward! Take care.
