Podcast #310 - Questions Wanted!
Added 2025-02-10 10:30:01 +0000 UTCHello Friends!
We're all set to record another podcast but would love some more questions from you lovely lot. This is for the TripleJump Podcast! Remember, as our esteemed financial supporters, we'll be exclusively coming to you for weekly discussion topics, so please read the following guidelines before submitting:
- No controversial or naughty questions please
- This is a video game podcast about video games so please keep the questions video-game-related
- Going forwards, we'd love it if you can base your questions on any video game news that drops in the week. It doesn't just have to be big serious stories though, so ask us about anything you find on the web. While we will still answer non-news questions from time to time, we're hoping that with a different focus we can avoid repetition.
- If there's a particular event or happening in the industry that you'd like us to discuss in detail, feel free! We like to address one 'big question' per week to headline each show, and pepper in smaller questions throughout
- Try to avoid topics we've covered before
- "Questions on a postcard" (don't make your question too long!)
- We typically record on Thursday morning, so try to get your questions in by Wednesday afternoon!
Thanks all! We look forward to reading through your offerings, and we can't overstate how much we appreciate your support on Patreon and elsewhere!
love ya <3

Hi BAP! Another bit of news from PlayStation this week has been their efforts to crack down on games variously described as "slop", "spam", "shovelware" and the like. Games from developer RandomSpin that reportedly used AI/stolen assets have been removed from sale, but there seems to be more work still to be done. The infamous "The Jumping [noun]" sort of games still seem to be up, and for an example from another platform, games like "Wukong Sun: Black Legend" are still up on Nintendo eShop. What do you think they need to do to properly crack down on this sort of thing? Does it need stricter requirements for certification to prevent these games from even making it to the store in the first place, or is it just enough to hide them from the average store browsing experience?

2025-02-11 17:32:34 +0000 UTCHey BAP, There was a PlayStation State of Play on Wednesday. Please use the question mark at the end of this comment as an excuse to discuss what was shown during the stream, and also Our Randy’s lovely shirt. Question mark?

2025-02-11 15:26:30 +0000 UTCHey BAP! Thanks for all the hours of entertainment. With AAA games now costing so much to make and their development taking so long that they can miss one or two console generations (looking at you GTA and Elder Scrolls in particular), are we looking at a future where we get fewer and fewer AAA games and AA and indies make up the bulk of games released, and each console generation getting barely any AAA in their lifetime. These games taking so long to make mean developers/publishers are trying to anticipate what will be the 'in' thing in at least half a decade or more, and this contributes to them changing a games direction several times during development. The Wonder Woman game is just the latest AAA game whose development troubles, time and investment could put a respected development team in danger. At what point does the risk Vs reward, trying to predict the future, and perhaps having one shot at a game every generation make developing AAA games not viable for anyone not called Rockstar?

2025-02-10 22:19:42 +0000 UTCDear BAP, when I was a kid I liked Dizzy the Egg, a boiled egg with a face that wore boxing gloves and high top trainers and went on fantasy adventures. Mainly because the box art was so fabulous. What game grabbed your imagination just from the art work?

2025-02-10 20:56:17 +0000 UTCHi BAP, I think you might have covered it in the news, but given the cancellation of Football Manager 25, and the disaster of WWE 2K20, is cancelling this Iteration the correct decision? (it's not a game of Graphics it seems silly for the graphic engine to be the problem).

2025-02-10 20:51:52 +0000 UTCHello BAP, There was a great big PlayStation network outage over the weekend, which lasted a full 24 hours and forcing many gamers to resist the temptation to read or talk to loved ones. Sony have only described the outage as an “operational issue”, which tells us nothing, and plan to compensate users with a whopping five free days of PlayStation Plus subscription. That equates to a frankly not-big-money saving of £2.25 if you’re on the premium tier, and less than that for the tiers below. Is this good enough from Sony? Should they have been more communicative during the outage itself? What WOULD have been an appropriate level of compensation for a weekend outage, when gamers are most likely to be online? Much love from the Caesar’s Palace breakfast buffet, Big Money Bobby Vegas
