Early update this week as I'll be a bit busy this weekend.
This week I finished editing up to the dialogue corrections. This includes everything that needs to be in code form for the functionality, the image processing of all renders, the transitions between the individual renders and the timings for the autoplay.
The chapter is now in a state in which I would normally publish it, without sound effects and music. It is currently with the person who proofreads for me. Initial feedback from there was a small thumbs up and confirmation that I'm not using the worst English in the world. I should get the exact extent of the corrections towards the end of this week/beginning of next week. If music & soundeffects can be finished quickly and the corrections are not a huge amount, maybe I can move the releases forward, but until I can be sure I'll keep them as I mentioned in an earlier post.
Until then I'll be working on music and sound effects. Since this has been quite boring the last 2 times and I have a lot of idle time during the process, I've thought of something to change that. Adding music and sound is a lot of work with about 30-40 tracks per chapter, but is usually divided into 90% searching for and listening to tracks and 10% later editing and incorporating them into the game. As a side project for the 90% of listening to music, I pushed something forward that I wanted to do during this year anyway.
I am reworking and rerendering the almost 1100 renders from the prologue. Because these are still in 1080p, compared to 1440p from chapter 1 onwards, the coding for them causes extra work because Ren'py doesn't like to display different resolutions in the same way. By filling the empty time while I listen to music with this rework, I kill two birds with one stone. I'm raising the quality of the prologue from 1080p to 1440p, I'm reworking (at first glance about 400-450) renders that simply have bad posing and/or especially very bad facial expressions and eye positions and I'm preparing the game for a code cleanup at the end of the year which I have planned after the release of chapter 4.
In short this means, even if most of you who have already played the game probably won't be interested, not only approx. 2400 static renders and 2600 animation renders for chapter 2 with its release, but also almost 1100 new renders for the prologue.
I also interpolated the videos for the bonus scenes from 25 FPS to 60 FPS because why the hell not.
Render pc's go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt.
That's it for this time. Until next week.
