Lost of babies in the IWC that see the glass spot and just cries about how dangerous it was, like if all f'n wrestling isn't dangerous.

This isn't a spoiler because I don't actually know, but I'm 99% sure that they will talk about Sting in the Monday Night War documentary. I know Sting was working with TNA at the time though. So maybe they won't or can't go into too much detail.

.

It's truly not that serious man Especially with them not being safe reports say they clearly are

Im sorry but the glass spot is just as stupid as the cinderblock or syringe spot in the Swerve/Page match. AEW feels the need to try and be edgy and push the envelope and they always go too far. Not to mention they’re not nearly as careful with stuff as WWE is. Tony Khan also doesn’t have the capacity to say no to peoples spot ideas because he wants to be one of the boys.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

That’s an amazing comparison. Especially because the Hardy Boys are the Young Bucks main influence. Except that Jeff’s connection with the fans could never be severed even after all his self destructive behavior. People know he’s a kind soul who’s plagued by demons. Meanwhile, many people have stopped caring about the Bucks.

I think of them as two Jeff Hardys that are good at doing high spots without a Matt Hardy to give the spots meaning.

I hope some folks send in some old Sting matches. I didn't grow up with Sting but I remember a bit of his stint in TNA, and his AEW run and retirement, but I'd love to see some of his old stuff. He seems like just a nice dude. Now his son, Steven, is training with darby/ftr/adam copeland to become a wrestler. Steven had no want to be a wrestler till her did that stinger splash at his dads retirement (he was in the red wolfpack sting outfit). His other son Garret (the one dressed as surfer sting), his wife is a wrestler on the independents I believe. And Stings daughter works for AEW.

Dangerous or not, in the moment it was VERY entertaining.

I believe from the glass spot, Darby has stated it left a small harry potter-like lighting bolt/s-shaped scar on his right side. So if thats the worst of it I think he came out okay!

Courtney コートニー

Your right. He's probably taking care of his body more than most do so he gets a pass when he wants to throw himself off something high haha

BazMan01

I believe in an interview Darby said they had also notified multiple hospitals around greensboro, god forbid anything went seriously wrong. Theres always a back up plan, in addition to other options for finishing a match, and I like to think Darby does take his health and recovery seriously. He's said in an interview recently he has multiple recovery treatments within his home so he can recover asap, including two ice baths, saunas, and breathing machines.

I always thought the reaction to the Darby spot was a bit overblown. Firstly, I don't think the spot is quite as dangerous some have made out. It was clearly designed to shatter into tiny pieces on impact. As long as the glass isn't tempered, then going through it with a flat back isnt likely to do much more than create lots of little cuts. Lots of blood sure, but no more than we've seen from most blade jobs. Secondly, this was Stings last match. Do we really think anything happened that he wasn't happy with? If Darby wants to create a memorable moment for his friend and Stings happy for him to do it, then who am I to say different.

Yeah that’s been a consistent criticism against the Bucks for years now. They don’t know wrestling psychology or character work. They’re very talented in the ring, but that’s it. Nothing story wise or promo wise of note.

Darbys fine bro it's all good you don't need to worry about him.

BazMan01

Just for some context Sting's first match was (Nov 25th 1985)

SwantonAtomBomb

😭 awesome

Diruroru

My favorite match ever to occur on U.S. soil. Long live Sting

Lucas Biersack

Darby isn't for everyone and that's ok 🙂 With this being the first match that I've seen Sting in, I'd say he stood out. For me, it seemed like they just wanted to have one more classic match together that people would remember. Was the glass a good idea? no probably not the best call. I think it was a great match otherwise!

Tallywags

As a massive WCW fan growing up, this was so fitting and respectful for the icon.

I had the honor of being in person for the dynamite where sting and Darby won the tag championships and got attacked by the bucks 🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯

Phillyman!!

Brother c'mon lol 1. They love Darby I highly doubt this changed literally anything about that 2. It may have been stupid but there's no way to plan around it sometimes and that's what happened 3. It was reported that people were taking pieces of glass home with them they loved it 4. Sting wanted that bump and it took absolutely nothing away from his performance 4. If you think climbing Everest days something about him you're right, it says that he's badass

Paul Watson

Darby Allin showed the world he’s nothing but an idiot during this match. He took away from the retirement match with this bump. It was real glass because of course it was and you can see it fly out into the crowd. Paying fans sitting in the front row got hit with REAL GLASS. But that’s ok because this is “real wrestling” and anyone who doesn’t like someone almost dying and possibly injuring others is a “hater” Darby also wants to climb Mount Everest if y’all didn’t know that’s not hyperbole he actually wants to climb it. That should let you know where this guys heads at.

I had alot of fun watching you watch this 😂. Some people wasnt fans of the spots in this match but this is exactly what Sting wanted. Big moments and just alot of fun for the crowd. Darby has said in interviews the glass spot didn't actually hurt him. He did a similar spot minus the glass just onto chairs and it hurt more lol. His pain resilience is above pretty much everyone else which is why he gets away with this style of wrestling. Outside of this he takes care of his body quite well and there was people who said he wouldn't be able to walk when he's 30. Well he's 30 now and isn't slowing down. Final bit more info. The match was planned out that if Darby did get hurt with the glass spot they could do a slightly different finish but largely the same. Appreciate you watching!

BazMan01

Stings AEW run is exactly how you should use legends like him if they still want to wrestle. They only brought him out for big events and mostly used him in tag matches. This allowed him to not over work himself as well as not over expose him to the fans. In the past many legends who came back for one last run felt like they where just taking a spot from a younger guy. I never got that sense from Sting he always felt like he added something to the show.
