Noclip Podcast #05 - Steven Spohn (AbleGamers)

Hey folks!

In this episode of the Noclip podcast I talk to the Steven Spohn about his work at AbleGamers, the challenges of playing games with a disability, and the games we've both been enjoying.

Apologies for the late post, I just arrived in Ireland for what was meant to be a pit-stop on the way to filming out next do in Europe. Since that doc was pushed back a few months I ended up with a random stay at home with family instead - which is a nice bonus. So yeah I had a nice weekend with family and have just arrived in my hometown of Waterford for a week of relaxing - and finally getting connected to the internet.

Thankfully we managed to plan another doc for filming in America next week - but it was actually a studio we were going to record the next episode of the podcast. So we're gonna have no podcast next week, but you'll get a full doc instead which seems like a reasonable compromise! It'll just be a short break though as we have guests lined up for the next few weeks after. In fact one of them is incredible exciting. We'll update you on guests and the focus of the podcast real soon.

I'm surprised Steam Input wasn't mentioned at all during this. Steam Input (a feature of Steam, that you can utilize for any game, when you run it via Steam - even non-Steam games) allows users to fully customize inputs for pretty well any gamepad that can connect to a PC, as well as keyboard mouse. It can even have gamepads (and other devices) simulate keyboard/mouse inputs for games that didn't even ship with gamepad support. It really is probably one of the best tools in existence for accessibly of all kinds, even if you just prefer to use a different device/inputs that the game's developer didn't provide support for.
