Noclip Podcast #02 - The Hospital Sim

[EARLY PATRON VERSION - Enjoy!]

Hey Patrons,

It's finally here! The second episode of our Noclip podcast, and it's focused on one of my favorite games from my youth.

I had spent some time trying to track down the creators of Theme Hospital when, as fate would have it, they re-appeared on the game development map with a spiritual successor to that very game. Thanks to Lauran Carter over at SEGA (a Noclip fan apparently!) I was able to get some time with Bullfrog and Lionhead legends Gary Carr and Mark Webley to talk about the classic PC game and how they're careers twisted and turned to see them return to the create a spiritual successor.

You can listen via the player above or by plugging your custom RSS feed into the podcast player of your choice. Your custom RSS feed should be featured on the right side of the Noclip Patreon overview page. If you have trouble finding it use the link below;

Enjoy the show!

Love it. The production was great and it was fun to hear your wife participating as well. I was oblivious to both of these games so it was a great excuse to look for them once the podcast was over.

Another great one! The passion shines even through audio only. Love to see a full doc on this when the games out! ;)

Yeah you’re right actually! We didn’t even do a GDC session with anyone from the UK. Mad.

A great listen, and I think I'm right in saying the first NoClip project with British developers? The humour in Bullfrog games, particularly Theme Hospital is uniquely British and you can hear it listening to these guys shoot the shit, great stuff.

It certainly would. The issue is that we currently work remotely from each other and nobody else is full time. My hope is that in the coming years we can get to a stage where we have full time folks and we can do something regular. I’ve also been interested in maybe collaborating with other creators on a gaming podcast but nothing has come around yet. Who knows. I do miss chatting about the news!

I really enjoy this. Question. In relation to your recent thoughts on scaling NoClip. Other fields use regular podcasts to grow their audience. Do you see that as feasible for you guys?
