That practice of harvesting with the hoe tool sounds really bad. I know the native Americans say they can tell the difference between wild lophophora and cultivated. I would like to see a double blind study with native practitioners taking synthetic mescaline, and cultivated and wild harvested lophophora. I guess the pruging would be the dead give away. I know this may seem wrong to some and I can understand why. For me, my science minded brain feels like this could be very interesting research and potentially reduce the loss of wild lophophora. I'm an atheist so the spiritual side of stuff doesn't really mean anything to me, but I respect that it does for others.

Wow what a great episode, a lot to sit with. Some of what Leo was saying in the beginning about Cortez’s arrival, reminded me of the book Red Medicine by Patrisia Gonzales. She discusses a lot on the different uses from the medicine and even how it’s been able to survive since Cortez’s arrival.
