This was a request when Dynaframe pro first started, and it's something that I've wanted to do since then and have taken a few attempts at it, but never was happy with how it was being implemented. The request was simple..."I want the screen on the frame to be able to turn on at a certain time, and off at a certain time".
The spirit of Dynaframe is to make something that is very flexible, and my goal was to create a system where you could do more than turn it on or off, but control playlists at certain times, maybe be able to reboot it, or have it turn on and off several times throughout the day. Basically what I refer to as a scheduler...allow the frame to do any task it wants at any time. Above is a quick stab at the User interface for this, with more features coming soon (I expect there will be a 'clear' button for now, and then I can get fancy and do 'clear' per task, but for now I'm trying to get this out there with the plugin engine.
The way this is implemented is that users will be able to see the code and expand on it, make it their own, and re-release it as an improved version. But this will be made to be functional so that users can finally turn frames on and off.
The other news for those following closely is that this is implemented via the plugin engine...and this is a 'always on' plugin. I'm using this to prove out that design, because once we know that we can have python scripts that can run and control the frame at all times (and that the frame starts and stops with itself) then it will allow us to do other things such as fancy sensors, remotes, buttons and more.
For now though, a long promised feature is coming...the ability to turn the screen off at a certain time! I'm pushing to get this out by end of month. The plugin engine is progressing to beta shortly!
