Crabfolk Moodboard

So first of all I'm thinking we can approach this like the Owlin and have some different sizes/types of crab for the designs and we definitely need one with the asymmetrical large claw.

As far as overall design concepts, I much prefer the look of the larger body with shorter legs and I really like the look of the leg setup in the bottom left image. It's a good mix of upright humanoid form while still keeping all the cool crab aspects and it makes more sense to me anatomically than some of the others.

I'll start blocking out some shapes and see where we end up!

I'll do some various sizes but a size M monster doesn't necessarily have to be skinny either

that thing is crazy

Long live 3d for that, but I was also talking in terms of proportion. I think a reduced ogre will never make a good gob for me, it's only valid with all humanoids ;o)

I’ve always preferred to have a base model that’s smaller. I can size it up accordingly if I want it to be a “big monster”…done it to a lil goblin so the goblin that’s 1/2 the size of my elf is now 2x the size of my elf and scaled up so it’s an actual challenge or as a “boss” variant

I would vote for crab centaur. Gives you a good base to do a Tlincalli in the future too 😉

for me and after the discussions i find that we are moving away from the crabfolk. The crabfolk is a size M at the base not a centaur! or an hermit crab. And please don't be tempted by a new supermonster, i beg you (we have so many big guy, we need folks !!!) ... https://66.media.tumblr.com/4688cce9db3f57a758ea5f539497ca6b/tumblr_nvpokr1u4P1ro2bqto1_540.jpg...but i'm an old man, my tastes are overrated :)
