Added 2021-03-06 23:51:44 +0000 UTCWe lost the second of two dear ferrets. My partner raised them from babies, Mochi (bottom) passed in 2019, and Sushi (top) passed a few days ago from age. She was 8 years old this year.
We have two other ferrets we adopted these past 4 months. One, a big boy named Lemon, took care of Sushi and guarded her when he sensed her time coming. He's been in mourning as well these days.
It's been hard. Mochi passing was devastating but Sushi being here somehow felt like she persevered the feeling of Mochi with us. It feels like a big hole is left in our household now.
At the end of the day, we feel at peace knowing we spoiled them rotten and gave them all the care we could possibly give to them to ensure they could live as happily and healthily as they could. Love and miss you, ladies 💙

2021-03-07 03:06:40 +0000 UTCYes it's true that empty feeling can come over you at the most unexpected times. Maybe the best we can do is make sure to not forget them. When my cat passed the grief I had was making it hard to do work- he would sit in the window when I was at the computer. It got to the point I printed out a life-size picture of him and taped it inside the window so he could always "look outside" and I could see his little face.
