Update: We found our new home! Let's see how Crowdcast treats us, shall we? The countdown clock link has been replaced with a link to the Crowdcast Q&A. Please follow this link at 1pm PST on March 5 to join the Q&A.
We will be holding an Extra History Q&A this Sunday, March 5 @ 1pm PST! Please see the link above for a handy countdown clock.
Our previous livestreaming service, Huzza, has shut down, so we're currently looking for a new home for our Q&A. As soon as we have settled on one, we'll share the link. Until then, we wanted to make sure we gave you all the time this Q&A has been set for so you could make room on your schedule!
Feel free to post questions in the comments section of this post if you're concerned you might not be able to make the scheduled time and want to make sure your question comes up during the Q&A. We will do our best to find a livestream service which archives the Q&A for everyone to watch later if they miss it live, but until we know for sure where we're landing I'm afraid I cannot guarantee it.
If you know of a good Q&A livestreaming source, your recommendations would be welcome! I have a few leads I'm pursuing but will happily check out any additional possibilities that you folks think would be good.

I believe in you, Sean! You'll make it to this one!

2017-03-05 16:34:33 +0000 UTCProbably can't talk about about the Russia Japanese War without also discussing the earlier war between Japan and the Qing. They happened in rapid succession and the Triple Intervention following the Treaty of Shimonoseki was one of the catalysts for Japan's war with Russia. One long story about who controls Liaodong.

2017-03-05 11:20:50 +0000 UTCQ1: Do you have political episodes in the making? Considering yall are from West Coast, there's only one stance you could take and I'd hate to get in a fight with you about politics. Q2: Russia's foreign relations are severely underreported - what were they like? War with Ottomans in 1877 and Rzhech Pospolita partitions are there; what was beyond that - how it was like with the rest of Europe? Q3: Following on previous question, what were relations like with Japan (something something war 1905 something something)? Q4: Alaska colonization. We know it was subsequently sold to the US - but what was it like between colonization and secession? Why would someone even want to colonize it?

2017-03-05 02:35:28 +0000 UTCIt is on my plate, but I still appreciate the suggestion! It's mainly the conference videochat part of it that bothers me, although there are enough benenfits to hosting through an unlisted YouTube Live stream that I am going to poke my nose into conference videochat options tonight. It could happen!

2017-03-05 02:12:32 +0000 UTCThe most obvious option would be, I guess, youtube live. They do offer unlisted streams with live chat. I don't know if they have support for conference streaming like huzza did - this can be solved by separate conference videochat app (like skype). This option is probably on your plate already and I'm not sure why I'm typing this.

2017-03-04 17:40:08 +0000 UTCThe issue with Twitch is that it auto-broadcasts to everyone who follows our channel, and these are meant to be special Q&As for our Patreon supporters. :)

2017-03-04 13:08:11 +0000 UTCWell, until you find a better one, you could always use Twitch. They record the chat as well now, and so long as you set the entire video as a highlight afterwards, I'm told it will never be autodeleted. It isn't perfect, and doesn't have a separate queue for questions, but it could work as a stopgap.
