Poll: Best Time for Q&A
Added 2015-02-18 23:30:18 +0000 UTCIt's time to set up the monthly patron Q&A, but this time, we'd like to hear from you about when to schedule it! Link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/C8S6H27 Now, usually we just schedule these things for whenever works best for Dan, James, and David, but this month by patron request (and because we thought it'd be good to try) we decided to put this poll out. As of right now, we've listed only the times when at least two people from the team can make it, but since schedules change, I can only guarantee that we'll do our best to strike a balance between the #1 voted option and what it turns out our team can actually make it to. This is new, and we beg your patience! NOTE: Voting closes Friday, February 20 at 11pm PST.

2015-02-20 01:07:52 +0000 UTCThat's an excellent point. I don't think it solves the problem completely, but for now, I've gone back and added a second question - "Which times do NOT work for you?" I'll do my best to strike a balance between the two results... and anyone who's already answered the poll should be able to go back in and re-answer, now with the second question, if they want!

2015-02-19 11:44:53 +0000 UTCThat's a good approach. I think you need to be aware of things like hard and soft support... US patreons might prefer say, 7PST on Tuesday but wouldn't be opposed to say 1PST on Saturday. For me, in Ireland (and same for UK), 7PST is 3am GMT. I love you guys 'n' gals but that's completely out of the question when I have work the next morning. So the only times which are reasonable AT ALL for me are 1PST (8pm GMT) and 3PST (11PM)... anything else rules out this side of the planet. Of course, Asians will have their own version of that... so varying the times makes sense but you might want to take into consideration Hard vs Soft support too. Maybe every month favour 1/3rd of the planet :) Oh the tribulations of being worldwide mega stars...

Honestly, up till this point almost all of our Q&A sessions have been at the same time (Sunday at 1pm PST) and I realize that's not the ideal case for a lot of people. If this approach works well, then I may run a similar poll next month to figure out what time works for people next month, etc.

2015-02-19 00:14:57 +0000 UTCI'd encourage you to vary the times of the Q&A as much as you can from month to month, simply so that you're not always doing them when's best for people in the same time zones on a month to month basis. This sort of poll is good, yes, but not being restrained by it might also be useful.
