Another major difference between Goku/Vegeta at this point is that Goku has had tons of mentors to carry lessons to improve, while Vegeta’s relied on his own strength and intuition his whole life. One way this is strongly shown is during Cell Games when Goku understands the importance of rest before the tournament, which he learned from Roshi.

As you can see, Goku is evenly matched with Kid Buu at full power SS3, but eventually wears out rather quickly due to the form rapidly draining his ki.
