Lust Incarnate Comics: BigCartel Vs. Kickstarter
Added 2024-12-22 17:43:11 +0000 UTCHelloooo, everyone!
I hope you're having a good weekend. We having been hard at work conceptualising not only the end of Androids Who Dream but how we would handle the launch of Infernal Flowers, for example.
I am leaning to simply launching our products on our BigCartel online shop, and doing pre-order exclusives. Possibly even Variants, where you would buy the Comic and a Print, Stickers and/or other related products.
Dee muses that a Kickstarter campaign could also be fun, and secure more funding so that we can focus less anxiously on making Lust Incarnate Comics succeed and put out awesome content.
This is a multiple choice poll, so please, be as specific as you'd like, and comment if you have any extra thoughts!
How would you like to support our future physical comic releases?
Thanks again, folks!!! 🖤

Implementing blockchain was the big one that caused a lot of creators to look elsewhere: https://www.kickstarter.com/articles/the-future-of-crowdfunding-creative-projects - they've since backed off a bit but it still left a bunch of people with a bad taste. Here's an article about why C&H left the platform: https://www.vice.com/en/article/cyanide-and-happiness-ditched-kickstarter-over-nfts-and-fans-came-with/ And some posts from Spike of Iron Circus Comics talking about their experience using BackerKit instead: https://bsky.app/profile/ironspike.bsky.social/post/3k2foucitfh2w and https://bsky.app/profile/ironspike.bsky.social/post/3k2glgs2v522w

2024-12-23 17:10:33 +0000 UTCIf you're considering crowdfunding as an option, maybe think about taking a look at services other than Kickstarter to see what they offer? KS got in some hot water with policy decisions recently, and I know some other publishers have had really good experiences with (for example) BackerKit as an alternative.
