Goddess Maker Mod: WORKPLACE TENSION

Introduction

The corresponding illustration to this post features the community-commissioned characters “Brad” and “Celine”, whom are connected to a community-commissioned Goddess Maker mod in-development called “Workplace Tension”.

Mods in Goddess Maker

Granted Goddess Maker’s large mechanical ambitions, it’s a game, in the making, that has a wide and diverse potential for mod support, whether in swapping character assets, changing the meta, or adding new alternative story content.

“Workplace Tension”, in particular, adds new endings and a more abridged timeframe of the calendar system to bring more attention onto its central conflict.

I find it appropriate, as the father of this project, to take the initiative of setting the groundwork for mod support for if and when the community wishes to appropriate the game as their own and modify elements to their liking.

Because of this initiative, I can act as a supervisor in making sure that the community content added is up to par with the game’s “standards” and inserted in with the “developer’s touch”, as a part of the archivable package.

It’s unlikely that mods, especially those that impact the story, will be able to stacked together, but it is something that will have a user interface to potentially support it, nevertheless.

Obviously, it’s unreasonable with such a grand scale of Goddess Maker’s developments to start developing mods upon an unfinished game, so the development of mods are of the lowest priority and something that, if encouraged, would be passed onto the burden of the community to develop, like a furry mod or whatnot.

Nevertheless, all mods upon Goddess Maker are non-canon, treated as a more optimized debug option that swaps a part of the game with another.

Brad and Celine are nevertheless, developer-recognized canon characters in Goddess Maker; they are just of a lesser prominence, given their more stranger-like character roles in the social experiments and other events.

Mod “Workplace Tension”

The premiere mod to be eventually implemented in an update follows the scenario:

“What if the player character and partner character hired help?”

This mod, if enabled, divergences prior to the moment Chad and Stacy are introduced to enthrall the protagonists into a scenario where the player and partner characters are feeling overwhelmed with the workload of their research and development, and decide to hire new laborers, their age, to assist them in their divine ascension agenda.

Simply put, these helpers hired, “Brad and Celine” are much developed to be the “darker” archetypical variants to Chad and Stacy, behaving much more proactively, rather than in reaction; and whom put a strain onto the established relationships, bringing fourth a new degree of co-ed infighting, and, extraordinarily chaotically, increasing the franchise of those who can seize at the opportunity to become a god.

That last point in particular is the main driving force beyond the mod, as the experience of having four people competing in a workplace environment for their own selfish benefit, adds a whole new level of of betrayal and cooperative pulls, that will otherwise not be seen in “Lab of God”.

Since the mod doesn’t oblige to follow the same long-form struggling canon trajectory of reaching godhood, the accident that fast-tracks an ascension to godhood comes much sooner than in the vanilla “Lab of God” experience, so that the “Workplace Tension” experience can be focused more closely on its dramatic conflict, ignoring that which isn’t necessary.

A big underlining reason on why the “Workplace Tension” content is a modification upon the game rather than an optional route in-game is because it features a strong sexual and third wheel aspect that would be an inappropriate optional addition to the intended player-partner character binary lab-sharing mechanic, and much has been planned to enclose and segregate other in-game mechanics to make this content feasible and not overly contradictory.

That and with how redundant of having both Chad & Stacy, and Brad & Celine taking both such large prominent roles, there would be a conflict of interest to add the same, or at least purposely similar, character archetype twice.

On Brad

Snarky, self-indulgent, obsessive, and a darker take of “Chad”, he, in this mod, would be portrayed as being the player character’s annoying and mean-spirited college roommate.

Not trustworthy and an ass, when hired, he causes trouble for the lab and is a huge liability for their otherwise competent operations.

When it comes to candidacy of Brad becoming a god, it’s treated as the most basic power play of indulgence and for him to become an even more massive self-centered menace onto others.

On Celine

A, much requested, big tiddy goth girl with an outstanding hot body, who like Brad, isn’t of the most remarkable moral character, mainly operating to find more benefit to herself than to the lab.

She, in addition, is a bit naive, but playful, to how her sexy body affects others, and when cognizant of it, uses it, as a shortcut, to seduce males to do stuff for her and bathes in the jealously she invokes because of it.

Although she doesn’t have the intellectual intuition to become a goddess like the partner character, when the acknowledgment of such a possibility arrives as an opportunity to seize, her domineering attitude pushes her to reach that possible divine ascending conclusion.

Comments

Looking forward to the next release. Mod support will add longevity to the game down the line.

John Ortner

Depends on the character's physiology and immunity, usually no as the temporary effects wear off quickly.

Ascension

Sounds like an experience. Anyways are there plans for multiple serum effects effecting an individual character at the same point in time?

fre fed

Don't worry, A.2.2 will have a lot of new content relating to Freda.

Ascension

Freda would've been a better lab partner hire, than Brad. She and I have similar interests.
