I was actually looking for pose references on google, and came across this cool stock photo of an army lady holding a rifle
I liked the energy so I tried to recreate that in my drawing- key points being her arm/hand placements in relation to her rifle. For everything else in my painting, I made it up and had some fun!
Reference can be super helpful when used properly- in this case, it helped me flesh out an interesting pose and vibe for my character. Beyond that, I try not to rely heavily on the reference. Otherwise, the drawing will turn into a 1:1 copy and not be as cool or fun
I found this cool shoe and referenced it as well.. Use references, people!
