Sabine's helmet

I know there are already lots of Sabine helmets out there, but I also wanted to make something that would help you as the maker when it comes to 3d printing, casting and painting easier :)

A big thanks to everyone who shared the photos, I had quite a lot of references to use, so long story short - what's in the project and why this one may be different from the other ones out there :) :

- 1:1 scale for 3d printing (clean)
- 1:1 scale for 3d printing (painting guides)

- small scale resin printing with thicker walls (can be drilled out as much needed to be compatible with toys)

- 1:1 scale cast version ( 2 options)

- rotating mechanism for rangefinder compatible with m3 screws and nuts ( can be tighter or loose based on your choice)

- 2 rangefinder printing options

- vizor cutout template

- mesh for the back vent

- wireframe cutouts for sizing/helmet scaling - the helmet is made to fit 100% at 585mm  circumference

Stuff i tried but didn't work:

I also wanted to make a motorized version - but when I enclosed the gear box, it would be 30 mm from the edge of the helmet thereby making it not wearable. The mg90s also isn't strong enough for the larger rangefinder, so i am searching for new servo/motors to make a universal motorized mechanism (if possible)

I also didn't add the "3d printed paint templates" bcs i think that's a gimmick and is barely usable. However, if you think you would benefit from them, please let me know and I'll add them. I figured when it comes to painting my carved in painting guides can not only be used to paint directly on the model but used as a tracer tool for stickers.

oh right, sure, but on such shapes where there is no logical way to cut it it will just be a straight / plain cut, as there are no "seams" to connect it by

Marko Makaj

Can you cut the helmet down to fit in my resin printer

Mark Graham

Ok, no prob brother. Look forward to a future project

Captain Fett Cosplay

Whats "a cut one" ? :)

Marko Makaj

Looking forward to some photos :)

Marko Makaj

Yeah the paintjob is killer on this one :D

Marko Makaj

Unfoetwnatelly yes bcs we cant use that helmet. I need ti create a new esb helmet first

Marko Makaj

Can you do a cut one?

Mark Graham

Looks fantastic. Can't wait to get started on it.

Derek Williams

That's awesome you did the guides. I thought about trying the helmet a few months back when the Ahsoka trailer came out and said there's no way I would be able to do that paintjob lol

Jonathan Lambert

my pleasure :) can't wait to see some prints :)

Marko Makaj

that was also something i tried to make, but unfortenatelly there is no tool to convert the render stencils into 2d. basicly i hand painted and hand carved the model (the curved surfaces) , but will definatelly research this more as i know it would be very usefull, however not easily doable. The side marking that are not very curved are easy, but the main stencils that go across the helmet -those are difficult to make in 2d to fit the 3d shape

Marko Makaj

I forgot to add that yes I know you don't have an ESB, but meant would it be a major project to make castable versions esp of the generic Boba-ish?

Captain Fett Cosplay

the problem is i dont have an ESB boba helmet - the old "boba, deatchwatch, generic mando helmets" were an attempt to make a cross compatible mandalorian helmet, but each version, esb, rotj, bobf, boba mando s02 ..... they all have microadjustments so each one would have to be make as its own version if we are aiming for accuracy

Marko Makaj

Love the helmet. Is it possible for pngs or jpegs so we can use circut machine to cut out the stencils?

Anthony Wilkinson

so the templates are not used as a final product for paintjob but more of a guide for tracing ? just trying to figure out what would work best, so i can create something thats the easiest to use :D

Marko Makaj

Question - would you ever be willing to go back and make the casting versions of the Boba helmets? I have an ESB project that is requiring me mold and cast a few

Captain Fett Cosplay

Yes yes yes thank you sir

jason diodati

Great job! The 3D printed templates can be used to trace the outlines on the helmet.
